The lighting on this house was chosen properly. Showroom, comparisons, everyone agreed it mattered.
By the time we ordered it, the budget was tight. Not dramatically, just enough that lighting looked like the easy cut. It always does. It’s the last thing ordered, and by then everyone is tired of deciding.
The cheapest fixtures went in. They’re being replaced now, one by one, at full price, in a finished house with furniture in the way.
Nobody made a bad call. It looked sensible that day.
Now I price the lighting at the start, with everything else - not when the money is already short.
