Turn Fallen Chestnuts Into Beautiful Hanging Autumn Ornaments! 🍂🌰
What You Need
Six to ten horse chestnuts (conkers), natural jute twine, small wooden beads, white acrylic paint or a paint marker, a fine paintbrush, cream ribbon or lace, miniature metal bells, small leaf charms, scissors, a craft drill or awl, craft glue, and a natural tree branch for displaying the finished ornaments.
How to Make It
🌰 1. Prepare the chestnuts. Collect several firm horse chestnuts, clean them, and let them dry. Carefully drill a small hole through each chestnut using a suitable tool and a secure work surface.
🧵 2. Add the hanging cords. Thread a piece of jute twine through each chestnut, securing it underneath with a knot or decorative charm. Add one or two wooden beads above the chestnut and create a hanging loop.
🎨 3. Decorate the chestnuts. Paint simple white flowers, leaves, stars, or dots on the glossy brown shells. Give each ornament a slightly different design and allow the paint to dry completely.
🎀 4. Add the finishing touches. Attach small lace bows, miniature bells, or brass leaf charms to some of the ornaments for extra rustic charm.
🍁 5. Create your autumn display. Arrange a natural branch in a sturdy vase and hang the six finished ornaments at different heights. Add a few dried autumn leaves around the base for a cozy seasonal decoration.
Note: Horse chestnuts are not edible and can be toxic if swallowed. Use them only for decoration, keep them away from small children and pets, and let an adult handle the drilling.
