One of my clients came to me feeling overwhelmed by years of household paperwork after the loss of her husband.

Her goal wasn't to create a perfect filing system. She wanted to feel capable again.

Together, we introduced a handful of simple, sustainable habits. We recycled what no longer mattered, organised the documents that did, and created one clear place for the information she needed most.

The moment I'll never forget was when she said:

“I know what to do now.”

That sentence meant far more than neatly labelled folders ever could.

Professional organising is so often about reducing the mental load, rebuilding confidence and helping someone feel that they can do it. It's a privilege to witness those moments.

Shared with permission and identifying details changed to protect my client’s privacy.

This might be one of the least glamorous organising purchases I've ever made—but it's genuinely brilliant.

I swapped my shredder for a confidential roller stamp. Instead of creating yet another "shredding pile", I simply roll over names and addresses before recycling paperwork.

It's quicker, quieter and removes one more barrier to keeping on top of household admin.

Sometimes organisation isn't about buying more storage.

It's about removing friction.

NEW BLOG ✨

I'm delighted to be featured by APDO for National Organising Week 2026, exploring this year's theme of overconsumption.

As a professional organiser, I've learnt that the answer isn't usually buying more storage or becoming more disciplined. More often, it's about understanding why we bring things into our homes in the first place.

In this blog, I explore the connection between overconsumption, self-compassion and creating homes that truly support us.

I'd love to know… What's one thing you've stopped buying because it wasn't actually making life better?

So many people think they need colour-coded folders, dozens of labels and a beautifully organised cabinet.

You probably don't.

I encourage clients to begin with a handful of broad categories and only create subfolders when they genuinely make life easier.

Remember: organisation isn't about perfection—it's about finding things quickly.

Paperwork doesn't have to become a mountain.

One of the simplest habits I suggest to my clients is the one-touch rule: decide whether each item needs action, filing or recycling as soon as it arrives.

It won't eliminate paperwork—but it will dramatically reduce overwhelm.

What's your biggest paperwork challenge?

For the longest time, I believed the story I'd been telling myself.

That I was lazy (and therefore unworthy). That I wasn't good enough.
That everyone else had somehow figured life out while I was constantly playing catch-up.

Receiving my ADHD diagnosis didn't suddenly solve everything. But it did help me understand why certain things felt harder and, more importantly, it helped me stop blaming myself for it.

These days, my focus isn't on trying to become someone else. It's on creating systems that reduce overwhelm, remove unnecessary decisions and make everyday life feel that little bit easier.

That's exactly what I help my clients to do too.

Whether you're neurodivergent, navigating a busy season of life, or simply overwhelmed by your home, organising isn't about perfection.

It's about creating a space that works for you.

💛 I've written much more about my own journey and the systems that support me in this month's blog. You can read it via the link in my bio.

This story has stayed with me because it completely changed the way I think about organising.

My friend realised she was handling the same swimming kit over and over again every single week.
Not because she needed to... Simply because that's how she'd always done it.
Once the kit was clean and dry, why not put it straight back into the swimming bag? Problem solved.

It's such a simple example, but it highlights something we all do.
We create routines without ever stopping to ask whether they still make sense.

Since understanding my ADHD, one question has become part of my everyday life:

Can I remove a step?

Whether it's laundry, paperwork, meal prep or getting out of the door in the morning, removing just one unnecessary step can make life feel so much easier.

It's not about cutting corners or laziness. It's about designing your home and your routines to support your brain instead of creating more work for it.

I share more examples like this in my latest blog about how understanding my ADHD has changed the way I organise my home, my work and my life – you'll find it via the link in my bio.. ❤️

For years I thought I needed more motivation. What I actually needed was fewer obstacles.

One of the biggest changes I've made since understanding my ADHD is asking one simple question:

"What would make this easier?"

That question influences almost every organising decision I make.
✨ Should this live closer to where I use it?
✨ Can I remove an unnecessary step?
✨ Am I making life harder because I think that's how it should be done?

Our homes shouldn't feel like obstacle courses.

The best organising systems aren't the prettiest ones. They're the ones that make everyday life feel just a little bit easier.

It's a simple shift, but it's transformed the way I organise my home, my business and the way I work with clients.

I've written much more about this in my latest blog– you'll find it via the link in my bio - if you'd like to read the full story.

For years, I thought I just wasn't very good at life.

I thought everyone else had somehow been given a handbook for adulthood that I'd never received.

Then I discovered I was ADHD. Looking back, so many things suddenly made sense. The burnouts, the overwhelm and the crippling anxiety that went with it. The endless feeling that I was just about holding things together, and at any moment everything could fall apart.

Understanding my brain didn't magically make life easy, but it completely changed how I approached it.

Instead of trying to force myself to do things the "normal" way, I started creating systems that worked for me.

That's why I'm so passionate about helping my clients create realistic, sustainable organising systems. Not because there's one right way to organise a home, but because the best systems are the ones that work with your brain, your family and your life.

If you've ever wondered why everyone else seems to cope while you're constantly playing catch-up, I hope this reminds you that you don't need to become someone else. Sometimes you just need a different approach.

I've shared much more of my story, including how understanding my neurodivergence has transformed my home, work and life, in this month's blog – you'll find it via the link in my bio. I'd love you to have a read. ❤️

I've been trying something different this week, and it's making a bigger difference than I expected.
Every time I enter or leave a room, I ask myself:

"What's one thing I could do to improve this space?"

Not because I'm trying to keep my house perfect...

But because those tiny actions become little resets throughout the day.

☕ Put the mug in the dishwasher.
👟 Put the shoes away.
📬 Recycle the junk mail.
🪑 Push in a chair.

Individually, they're tiny.

Together, they stop clutter building up in the first place.

I've realised it's much easier to keep resetting a space than it is to rescue it once it's become overwhelming.

It's a small question, but it's changing how I move through my home.

💛 Could this work for you?
