🚪 DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT GETS WORSE! 🔧

A few jobs this morning — a broken door mechanism, some window handles that needed replacing, and a door handle replacement.

The broken mechanism is a perfect example of why it’s worth getting in touch as soon as you notice something isn’t quite right with your door.

If I’d been called out earlier, all that was needed was a simple realignment. Unfortunately, by leaving it, the mechanism had deteriorated and ended up needing to be replaced — something that could have been avoided.

So if your door is getting harder to close, lock or operate, don’t ignore it until it completely fails! Give me a call and I can take a look before a small problem turns into a bigger, more expensive job.

💡 A little maintenance can also go a long way:
I recommend giving the hooks and moving parts that come out of the side of your door a spray with white lithium / 3-in-One spray a couple of times a year. It helps keep everything moving smoothly.

🚨 BURGLARY WARNING – PLEASE READ 🚨

I attended a burglary last night where the criminals actually burned through the door to bypass the Anti-snap lock

It’s not something I see all the time — in fact, I’ve only come across this once before — but it really shook my customers up, and it’s exactly why I always say it’s worth checking what locks you have fitted.

Thankfully, I was able to upgrade their locks to 3-star security locks, so they’re now much better protected. It looks like they may ultimately need a new door, but for now they have a much higher level of security in place.

Unfortunately, burglars seem to know exactly which locks can be bypassed, and these days it often feels like they’re targeting homes because they’re after the vehicles inside.

I genuinely hate attending jobs like this, especially knowing that in some cases a simple security upgrade could have helped prevent what happened. That’s why I’m putting this post out there.

🚨 DON’T IGNORE THE WARNING SIGNS ON YOUR DOOR LOCK! 🚨

Today I’ve been out carrying out lock changes, door realignments and gaining entry to a faulty lock — and it’s reminded me how often a small problem can turn into an expensive one if it’s left too long.

🔑 Is your door getting harder to lock?
🔑 Do you have to lift the handle to get the key to work?
🔑 Can you hear a grinding, clicking or unusual noise when lifting the handle?

These can all be signs that your door needs realigning.

⚠️ Don’t force the handle or keep using it until the mechanism eventually fails. A simple realignment could prevent damage to the locking mechanism and save you the cost and hassle of a much bigger repair.

🚗 And with more vehicles being targeted by burglars, home security is more important than ever.

🚨 DON’T WAIT UNTIL YOUR LOCK FAILS! 🚨

A customer called me today because his front door lock had gone into lockdown mode.

He had an Ultion 3-star lock, one of the top-rated locks you can have. Unfortunately, even the best lock won’t save you if the mechanism underneath is struggling.

He kindly offered me a cup of tea while I got to work ☕️.

By the time the tea was made, I’d already bypassed the lock and fitted a brand-new one! 😂

He couldn’t believe how quickly it was sorted.

But here’s the important bit…

After working on a couple of other door mechanisms today, I asked my customers the same question:

“Was your door getting harder to lock before the mechanism broke?”

And guess what?

YES! Every time.

That’s the warning sign people often ignore.

If you’re having to lift the handle harder than usual, or push, pull or jiggle it to get your door locked, don’t wait for it to completely fail.

In many cases, the problem can be as simple as a little realignment, potentially saving you the inconvenience of a broken mechanism and being unable to secure your home.
