Bespoke design is not simply about making something fit. It is about considering the space as a whole.

For this walk-in wardrobe in Cambridge, the joinery was designed around the architecture of the room — balancing generous storage with a calm, cohesive material language.

Deep stained timber brings depth and warmth, while the textured Élitis wallcovering continues across the walls and ceiling, softening the darker joinery and creating a more enveloping feel. A bespoke mirror and dark metal details add contrast without interrupting the simplicity of the space.

Every element has a purpose, but nothing needs to shout.

From material to space.
A bathroom begins long before the finishes are chosen.
For me, it starts with the plan — how the room will move, where each element needs to sit, what has to be stored, and how light will travel through the space.

Only then do the materials begin to give the room its character. Warm timber, pale stone, glossy KitKat tiles and brushed metal bring softness, depth and contrast to what is ultimately a very practical space.

I love working between drawing and materiality — one informing the other until everything begins to feel quietly resolved.

A nursery designed to feel soft, playful and full of character — without becoming overly sweet.

The room began with a calm, muted palette, then layers of personality were added through shape, finish and repetition: a blush high-gloss ceiling, soft green architraves, dark walnut, dandelion wallpaper and sculptural details running quietly through the scheme.

The walnut beads appear again and again — framing shelves, softening edges and creating a small visual rhythm through the room. The glossy ceiling catches the changing daylight, while the green trim gives the softer pink tones a little structure.

And then there are the playful moments.
A rocking chair in the light.
A rabbit tucked into a corner.
Scalloped edges.
Soft curves.

A room that feels considered, but never too serious.
Designing for children doesn’t have to mean designing something temporary. It can still be thoughtful, layered and beautifully resolved — just with a little more imagination.

Somewhere between the drawing and the finished room, the atmosphere begins to appear.

A glimpse into the development of a new bedroom scheme — exploring how light, material and architectural detail begin to shape the feeling of the space.

Deep walnut against softer finishes.
A landscape mural interrupting the calm.
Stone catching the light.
Details revealed slowly rather than all at once.

For now, just a glimpse.

Space shaped around how you live.

Dark colour doesn’t have to make an interior feel dark.

In this bedroom, the depth of the blue was only one part of the decision. Just as important was where the colour was placed, which architectural elements it was allowed to follow, and how the finish would respond to natural light.

The blue moves across the ceiling, cornices, skirting, architraves and doors, allowing these elements to visually connect rather than breaking the room into contrasting outlines. But instead of completely colour-drenching the space, areas of warm off-white have been retained to create relief and balance.

Finish changes the experience again.

A high-gloss ceiling catches and reflects daylight, giving the darkest surface in the room movement, depth and luminosity. Against it, softer finishes, natural timber, textured fabrics and artwork bring warmth and tactility.

As daylight moves through the room, the relationship between colour, finish and light continually changes.

For me, working with a colour isn’t simply about choosing a beautiful shade. It is about understanding where it begins, where it stops, what it connects — and what happens when light meets it.

I’ve been thinking about the relationship between two parts of my work: educator and designer.

For a long time, I thought of them as two different roles. Increasingly, I see them as inseparable.

Teaching design isn’t simply about teaching someone how to draw, plan or produce a beautiful outcome.

It is about teaching how to think.

How to observe.
How to question.
How to notice what others might pass by.
How to understand before deciding.

Because design begins long before the drawing.
And perhaps one of the most important things we can teach is simply this:

First, learn to see.

Teaching continually makes me question what I think I know. And designing gives me something real to bring back into the conversation with my students.

I design. I teach.

And each makes me better at the other.

One home. Two bathrooms. One design language.

These concepts were developed around a shared palette of natural stone, warm timber, layered texture and thoughtful lighting—allowing each bathroom to have its own character while still feeling connected to the home as a whole.

The focus was not simply on how the spaces look, but on how they function: creating a greater sense of light and space, integrating practical storage and refining the everyday details that make a room easier to live with.

Thoughtful design. Considered details. Beautiful spaces.

Nothing here is accidental.

When people walk into a room that feels calm, balanced and effortless, they rarely notice the individual decisions that created it.
They don't see the relationship between colour and proportion.
They don't think about how natural light moves through the space.
They don't notice how materials, textures and scale quietly work together.
They simply know how the room makes them feel.
That's the role of thoughtful interior design.

Every colour.
Every material.
Every proportion.
Every detail.

Individually, they may seem insignificant.
Together, they shape the experience of a space.
Beautiful interiors are rarely the result of one big idea.
They're created through hundreds of thoughtful decisions—each one made with intention.

Materials are where every interior begins.

Before layouts are finalised, before furniture is selected, and long before a room comes to life, every material is carefully considered.

Texture.
Tone.
Light.
Balance.

A sample board is more than a collection of finishes—it is where colour, texture and materiality come together to establish the atmosphere of a future home.

Every element is selected not only for how it looks, but for how it feels alongside the others, creating a composition that is calm, balanced and enduring.

What material do you find yourself drawn to first?

Designed Around Light. Built Around Calm.

Morning light moves differently through every home.
In this bathroom concept, it becomes part of the architecture itself—gliding across glossy ceramic tiles, warming natural textures and revealing subtle reflections that change throughout the day.

The palette is intentionally restrained. Earthy stone, handcrafted surfaces and warm brass allow light to become the quiet focal point, creating a space that feels balanced, restorative and timeless.

Because thoughtful interior design isn't simply about creating beautiful rooms.
It's about creating places where everyday life feels just a little slower.
