You will run into this common issue with nichless Swimming pool lights. Was the homeowner not disclosing information intentionally? Either way, get it done and move on. The original light fixture is a Pentair Microbrite. The new swimming pool light installed, is the Jandy Hydro cool P series made for Pentair automation. Definitely one of my top 3 picks.

Pool remodel day from start to finish. 💪
Demo out, brand-new equipment in full rebuild. We dropped in a Jandy FloPro 2.7HP pump, a CL460 filter, a JXIQ 400,000 BTU heater, fresh Jandy valves, and a full iAquaLink 3.0 automation upgrade kit.

Rebuilt the intake manifold, added motorized actuators, cut in clean trenches, used pressure-rated pool sweeps, installed a new return manifold, and pressure tested the entire system even underground to make sure everything is leak free and pebble ready.

A cool upgrade that has been around for years. That some may not know about. Very inexpensive and one of the only upgrades you can possibly do without getting into a whole spa construction project. Aquastar TS-102 therapeutic spinner fits 1 1/2 inch eyeball fittings. Many colors available and just a cool inexpensive feature.

This job definitely had me a lil irritated. But I’m always irritated 🤷‍♂️😂. Many uses for an inspection camera. I like to use mine for leak detection and blockages along with using the transponder on pool remodels when relocating the pool equipment so I can find the existing plumbing underground. And not have 100 ft plus of extra pipe for no reason by connecting to the old existing equipment pad.

Installed a handrail for a couple needing extra stability and put Milwaukee’s switch tank to the test. Core drill no chords or hoses needed,battery barely dropped one bar. A little off on the measurements should’ve listened to gramps, but the clients can now enjoy their spa with some confidence.

Welp… If the client sees this, the cat is officially outta the bag. Yes Pool Volution did the work. And what a transformation. From a mess to a masterpiece. Jandy JXIQ heater,CV 460 filter,AquaPure salt cell, dual FloPro pumps and some fresh plumbing. Cant go wrong with some they’re dropping some new gear soon and I’m hyped to test it out. Automation’s next. What do you think? Clean enough to call it art?

Would you have found it?

Not one, not two, but three pool guys had been chasing this priming problem.

The check valve in front of the pump had already been replaced, but the pump still wouldn’t stay primed. The real problem was farther upstream on the suction side an underground check valve everyone missed.

Because the pool sits lower than the equipment, the pump has to overcome static suction lift. The more elevation and suction line length you have, the harder priming becomes.

Not every pool needs an external check valve, but on elevated equipment setups like this, they can help hold the water column and prevent drain back. Depending on the plumbing layout, one check valve may not be enough. This system needed two.

Open the pump lid, introduce an air leak, or let that water column drain back, and the pump has to pull all that water uphill again. If a check valve isn’t sealing properly, priming gets much harder.

Once we replaced the underground flapper assembly and seals, the pump primed again.

Installer tip: no impacts on plastic valve bodies. Use a drill with the clutch set low, then finish by hand. And always inspect and lubricate the O-rings and seals with a pool safe lubricant.

Sometimes the fix isn’t the part sitting right in front of you. You have to understand where the plumbing goes and how the whole hydraulic system works.

Quick installer tip: don’t rely on an old swollen light cord to pull the new one. Tie on a pull string instead less friction and a much easier pull.
