Making our Autumn & Winter hanging baskets at Thinford Nurseries🌿🍂
Today Peter is showing us how we make some of our made-to-order hanging baskets, ready to give a bit of colour to the garden through the colder months.
If you’re using a cone-shaped basket like Peter is, a handy little tip is to pop an empty plant pot underneath to steady it while you’re filling and planting it. Once it’s ready to hang, simply take the pot away.
First, fill the basket right up to the top with good quality compost, then it’s time to get planting! 🌱
Peter’s using a mixture of plants, including spearmint, ivy, pansies, trailing plants and a few others to build height in the basket. The idea is to create a good mix of textures, colours and plants that will cope well with the cooler autumn and winter weather.
Once everything is planted, give it a really good watering and they’re ready to go out to our customers. 💦
And there you have it, another batch of baskets made and ready for their new homes! 🪴
If you’d like us to make an autumn/winter hanging basket or pot for you just pop in and see us at Thinford Nurseries.
Or, if you fancy having a go yourself, we’ve got everything you need in the nursery now: baskets, pots, compost and plenty of plants to choose from.
🍂 Come and have a look and make something to brighten up the garden this autumn and winter! 🌿
