Big changes are coming to the UK electrical sector next month!
By October 2026, new rules will fundamentally change electrical compliance, green energy, and contractor standards. Here is what landlords, property owners, and commercial builders need to know:
⚡ 1. BS 7671 Amendment 4 (The “Orange Book”)
Deadline: 15 October 2026.
Clearer EICRs: Strict separation between urgent safety faults (C1/C2) and minor recommendations (C3).
Green Energy Overhaul: Tighter safety and testing standards for Solar PV, battery storage, and EV chargers.
🔒 2. EAS Individual Competency Rules
Deadline: 1 October 2026.
No More Shortcuts: Firms can no longer use a single “Qualified Supervisor” to sign off specialised work.
Individual Proof: Every single electrician or subcontractor on your site must individually prove their Level 3 qualification and experience for EICRs, EV charging, and Solar PV.
🛡️ What this means for you:
Total peace of mind. When you hire an accredited team, you guarantee that every single pair of hands on your project is individually certified, audited, and deeply experienced.
