We’ll be at Leith Market for the last time (at least for a while!) before I head off on maternity leave later this year.
Leith Market has such a special place in the story of Hilda — and in our own story too.
When Tom and I moved to Edinburgh in 2021, Leith was one of the places that made us feel at home here. We became market regulars, got to know the community and then, when Hilda was just getting started, it became our first outpost, where we started meeting customers, selling plants and figuring out what this business could become.
It’s been part of our family life too. We brought Finlay home from hospital on a Friday and, because we lived nearby, Tom was dispatched down to the market the very next morning for coffees and pastries!
Finlay loves Leith market and the community there too — and is particularly partial to a croissant and a babycino 🥐
So it feels a bit strange to be doing our last Hilda market for a while.
We’ll have loads of lovely houseplants, pots and Hilda favourites with us this Saturday, so please come and say hello if you’re nearby 💚
And we’re definitely not saying goodbye to Leith Market. We might not be there behind a Hilda stall for a little while, but you’ll still regularly find us there as a family — probably with a coffee, babycino and several pastries in hand.
🌿 Hilda at Leith Market
Saturday 5th September, 10am-4pm
Come and see us for one last market hurrah!
Our first ever stall at Leith Market. Such a huge deal, I was so nervous, worked so late into the night and labelled Everything with HUGE postal style labels 🫠
The learning began!
I was so proud 🤗 the first Hilda tote bag out in the wild!
Something you might not know. But Hilda didn’t actually start out selling plants! Coming from a product design background, I was all about the ‘stuff’, and enjoyed finding beautiful pots and useful tools so much along with giving advice.
Doing the markets is no joke, hats off to each and every trader that sets up an entire shop every Saturday for 10am-4pm.
Have you seen how big this bird of paradise is now??
Market tribute post wouldn’t be complete without a massive thank you to Mr Hilda, for all the carrying, unpacking, packing, c
