This week’s star is Anemanthele lessoniana (Pheasant’s Tail Grass) 🌾🍂

This week’s star is Pennisetum alopecuroides ‘Black Beauty’ 🌾

💜 Berry season is here!

Adding a splash of colour to the nursery this Autumn is Callicarpa bodinieri ‘Imperial Pearl’.

With its striking clusters of vibrant purple berries, this beautiful shrub really comes into its own at this time of year. 🍂

As Autumn progresses, its foliage begins to change colour before falling, leaving the vibrant purple berries to take centre stage. These can persist well into winter, bringing a welcome splash of colour to the landscape when much of the garden is bare.

A fantastic choice for adding seasonal interest and colour to Autumn and Winter planting schemes. 💜🌿

This week’s star is Gaura lindheimeri ‘Whirling Butterflies’ 🦋

A graceful perennial with masses of delicate white flowers that flutter above slender stems, giving the appearance of tiny butterflies dancing in the breeze. Flowering for months from summer into autumn, it’s perfect for adding movement and a light, airy feel to borders and mixed planting schemes. Easy to grow and particularly lovely planted in drifts.

Steve’s Plants of the Week 🌿

Steve has chosen two this week — Skimmia ‘Kew Green’ and Skimmia japonica ‘Rubella’, both looking particularly good at the moment.

‘Kew Green’ is a compact evergreen variety with glossy green foliage and clusters of fragrant, greenish-white flowers in spring.

‘Rubella’ is especially attractive through autumn and winter, when its deep red flower buds provide months of colour before opening into fragrant white flowers in spring.

Both varieties are hardy, low-maintenance evergreens, ideal for adding year-round colour and interest to the garden. They prefer partial shade and moist, well-drained soil.

A great choice for reliable evergreen colour, particularly in those shadier areas of the garden.
