🌱 Don’t worry, we’re still here! 💚

Things might have been a little quiet on here, but there’s been plenty happening behind the scenes!

Between unexpected child health challenges, a growing season with barely a glimpse of sunshine here in the Highlands, and the everyday realities of running a small business, it’s certainly been an interesting year! 😅

But behind the scenes, I’ve been busy exploring opportunities, developing the commercial side of PlantElix® and looking at how to take years of independent research, experimentation and growing observations to the next level.

And now, another exciting step! 🌍

I’ve put PlantElix® forward for the Alibaba CoCreate competition, taking a little innovation developed right here in the Scottish Highlands onto an international stage.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but I’m proud of how far this idea has come and excited to explore where it could go next.

Scottish innovation, circular thinking and a whole lot of determination! 🌱💚

Sorry Facebook, I know I’m terrible at updating you 😅

There’s actually so much going on behind the scenes with Seed2Plate right now. The shop is nearly ready to launch, PlantElix® trials are still growing away, and there’s lots more coming very soon 🌱

I’ll try to be better at sharing things here, but if you want to keep up with the day-to-day videos, experiments and garden updates, you’ll find much more of us over on TikTok at Seed2Plate.

🎉🌱 Happy 1st Birthday, PlantElix®! 🌱🎉

One year ago today, I made my very first PlantElix® sheet 😱

It all started with one simple question…

“Could there be another way?” 💚

I had no idea that question would take me on one of the biggest learning journeys of my life!

Over the last 365 days I’ve developed far more than a product. I’ve learned to slow down, observe before reacting, understand my soil, appreciate the seasons and see value in things most people would throw away. ♻️🌿

And somewhere along the way, something incredible happened…

As PlantElix® developed, so did my garden and growing life. 🌱

Today I’m looking at healthier, greener plants than I’ve ever grown before.
Tomatoes covered in flowers. 🍅
Baby watermelons growing in the Scottish Highlands. 🍉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Courgettes,squash, Cucurbits all producing beautifully
Plants that would’ve been thrown in the compost heap given a second chance and thriving 💪.
Oh and genuinely …The sweetest lettuce I’ve ever grown. 🥬👌

Somehow, my garden feels healthier, lusher and more productive than ever before… and, rather ironically, I probably have two or three times more plants than I did a year ago, yet it’s become remarkably easier to manage. 💧🌿 ….and actually that’s all thanks to PlantElix® 🌱

Has everything worked?

Absolutely not! 😂

There have been failures, recipes that didn’t behave, moments of frustration and plenty of days where I questioned everything 🤯

But every setback taught me something, and every little improvement made the next batch better ✅

Looking back, I realise this journey has never just been about making a gel sheet.

It’s been about learning to work with nature instead of against it 💚

Thank you to everyone who has followed the journey, liked a post, watched a video, encouraged me, challenged my thinking or simply listened to me get far too excited about plants. You really have become part of this story. 🫶

Here’s to another year of curiosity, learning, growing and seeing where PlantElix® takes us next 🌱💚

It’s almost one year since I stopped using synthetic feeds in my garden.

Instead, I’ve been growing using the PlantElix® system that I’ve been developing over the last year.

One of the biggest benefits for me has been being able to go longer between watering after inserting the discs. When it’s hot, dry and windy here in the Highlands, that’s made a real difference to how I manage the garden.

The tomatoes are flowering beautifully, and I’m even growing watermelons. They’re a demanding crop and not something you’d usually expect to see growing in the Highlands, so they’re a great way for me to keep challenging and testing the system.

PlantElix® is constantly teaching me something new. Every recipe, every season, every success, and every setback helps shape the next version.

One year on, I’m growing healthy plants, harvesting food, and learning more every single day.

Could this be the beginning of cleaner, more regenerative growing systems? 🌱

Tonight feels a little special. ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I grew up around football. It was a huge part of my life growing up, and my dad absolutely loved the game. He’s no longer with us, but I know he would have loved seeing the World Cup being played in America, where he made his home.

I genuinely love being Scottish. I’m proud of our country, our humour, our resilience, and the way we come together when something matters.

One thing I’ve always loved most is our fans. Whether we’re winning, losing, or drawing, Scotland somehow manages to turn football into a celebration. We travel in numbers, make friends wherever we go, have a laugh, sing our hearts out, and leave people talking about us long after the final whistle.

The world doesn’t remember us because we win everything. It remembers us because of who we are.

So whatever happens tonight, I’m proud. Proud of the team. Proud of the fans. Proud to be Scottish. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚽

This bed is looking absolutely lush 🌱💚

The mustard has done an amazing job as a living mulch, helping cover the soil and keep the bed active, but it’s starting to flower so today it got a much-needed haircut ✂️😂

I’ve left some of the chopped material on the bed and opened things up for the brassicas, beetroot and kale seedlings coming through.

People sometimes say we’re a bit behind up here in the Highlands, but our growing season is a little different. We’re often still harvesting and growing strongly when gardens further south are starting to wind down 🌿🏴

What’s even more interesting is that next month marks one year since I stopped using synthetic feeds in the garden and started experimenting with PlantElix® and other natural growing methods 🌱

Considering we’ve had weeks of cloud, wind and rain, I’m really happy with how this bed is progressing. Plenty of colour, very little pest damage, lots of life in the soil, and it’s going to be a busy little bed over the next few weeks 🐞🪱💚
