It was lovely to catch up with our previous clients and revisit this project, now just over a year since completion.

There’s something particularly rewarding about returning to a home once it has had time to be truly lived in, seeing the spaces furnished, settled and being used as they were designed. It also gave us the opportunity to check in with the family, hear how the spaces are working for them day to day, and see the project maintained to such a beautiful finish.

A home is never just about how it looks on completion, but how well it continues to work for the people who live there. It was a pleasure to return, catch up and photograph the project in its next chapter.

SMART DESIGN | WORKING WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

A simple sustainability lesson: look at the openings before you look at the walls.

When adapting an existing home, reusing and modifying openings can reduce the amount of new construction required. Here, an existing window opening which was adapted to create larger patio doors, while an existing rear door was carefully closed up.

Working with the building’s existing fabric can mean less material, less waste and fewer interventions , while still creating a meaningful improvement to how a space works.

Sometimes the most sustainable move is to start with what’s already there.

| West End

Thoughtful changes. Meaningful difference.

A considered transformation of this post-war semi-detached home in Glasgow’s West End, designe to create a more open, connected and functional living space.

By blocking up the existing rear door and redirecting access through new patio doors, we were able to reimagine the layout, creating an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area that flows naturally from one space to the next.
The result is a brighter, more welcoming home with improved circulation, a stronger connection to the garden and a layout that better supports everyday family life.

A great example of how thoughtful architectural interventions can make a meaningful difference to the way we experience our homes.

SMART DESIGN | MAKING SPACE WORK HARDER

An insight into what we designed for our recent project spotlight.

The original mezzanine disrupted three spaces, covering the large windows, restricting head height and bringing the stairs into the adjoining room.
Our new design creates a compact home office above the nursery, with the staircase enclosed behind a wall and a single supporting column keeping the space below open. The result? More function, better flow and uninterrupted natural light.
Smart design isn’t always about adding more. It’s about making better use of what you have.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | MAKING PROJECT SPOTLIGHT | MAKING FOR FAMILY LIFE

This project transformed the home around the needs of a growing family, creating a large family kitchen and living space to the front of the property, alongside a new second bedroom/nursery and compact private office within the mezzanine.

But the design was about more than creating additional space. Conservation and sustainability were central to the approach, carefully considering the existing character of the property and how it could be protected for the future.
The mezzanine was thoughtfully adapted to address previous alterations, improving how the space works while respecting the original character of the home.

A considered approach to creating a home that works for today, while safeguarding it for tomorrow.

Another exciting milestone reached!

We’re pleased to share that Building Warrant
approval has been granted for this side extension in Inverness.

It will make a huge difference to the client by creating a generous bedroom and shower room on the same level as the kitchen and living spaces.

This is just the beginning, we can’t wait to show you how this space transforms over the coming months. Stay tuned for behind-the-scenes updates and progress as the project comes to life.

Project Spotlight | West End Tenemnet

Good design is about more than how a space looks, it's about how it works.
For this project, we reimagined the layout to create a clearer flow between spaces, giving each area a distinct purpose while improving how the home is experienced day to day.

Thoughtful storage was a key part of the design, from a hidden w**e cupboard that adds both function and character to a carefully planned en-suite that makes the most of every square metre.

Swipe through to see the floor plan and discover how considered planning and smart storage can completely transform the way a home feels.
