One of the perks of working with laser technology, and having a child in Year 6, is getting a head start on the celebrations!

It's hard to believe that in less than a year they'll be heading off to secondary school. Time really does fly!

Today we installed a brand-new VLS3.60DT 60W laser system and had the chance to admire the newly designed arm cover... and we have to say, we're impressed! 👏

Not only does it provide much better visibility of the laser during the cutting and engraving process, but from a service engineer's perspective it's a great improvement too. The more streamlined design makes key components much easier to access, helping to simplify maintenance and servicing.

🔧 As well as supplying new Universal Laser Systems, we also carry a selection of pre-owned machines that have been fully refurbished to an 'as new' standard, offering a cost-effective route into professional laser processing.

I'm not a panel cutter, I'm a panel cutter's mate...

Sometimes the job isn't intricate designs or creative projects. Sometimes it's simply cutting blank panels. And that's when the benefits of quality material really stand out.

Having spent years cutting standard laser grade plywood, we've experienced our fair share of hidden glue pockets, plugs and knots that can stop a cut in its tracks.

By comparison, our Birch faced poplar core plywood offers cleaner cuts, faster processing times and a much more consistent finish.

⚡️ Monday Morning Call-Out – VLS3.50 Desktop System ⚡️
Started the week out at a school following an electrical power surge, which unfortunately caused significant damage to their VLS3.50 desktop laser system.
Surges like this can do a lot more harm than people realise — affecting everything from the control boards, power supplies and CPU, right through to the laser cartridge itself. After carrying out a full inspection and testing, the system has sadly been deemed beyond economical repair due to the extent of the damage.
It’s a good reminder of just how important proper surge protection is when running this kind of equipment — it can save a lot of cost and downtime in the long run.
