Got old floor tiles?

Thermoplastic floor tiles found in properties built between the 1950s and 1980s may contain asbestos, including in the adhesive beneath them. These materials are often lower risk when left undisturbed, but if you suspect asbestos, get advice from a qualified asbestos specialist before carrying out work.

This wall could be a serious safety risk ⚠️

During a building survey, we identified cracking in a single-brick-thick wall that appeared poorly connected to the surrounding structure. With daylight visible through gaps in the brickwork, urgent remedial work was recommended due to the risk of collapse.

Damp readings? We investigated further in the subfloor.

During this damp survey, elevated moisture readings led us to inspect the concealed floor void using a borescope. We found wet timbers, allowing us to investigate areas that would otherwise remain hidden and assess whether deterioration may be present.

Following this, we did a calcium carbide to assess whether the masonry is showing any clear signs of damp.

Could an extension affect the property next door? 👀

During this structural survey, we found significant cracking where a kitchen extension meets a neighbouring garage, which appeared to be pulling away. Although there were reassuring signs internally, further investigation was recommended to establish the cause of the movement.
