Last week, we shared the finished installation video. Now, here's a closer look at the story behind this incredible project.

Midton had the pleasure of collaborating with architectural practice Astudio to create a striking illuminated feature wall for the University of Chicago Booth School of Business's London campus.

The installation celebrates the university's Nobel Laureates through bespoke cast acrylic plaques, each featuring a laureate's photograph, name and achievements.

Combining specialist acrylic manufacturing, precision craftsmanship and innovative lighting, the result is a stunning architectural feature that brings the institution's remarkable history to life.

It's a fantastic example of how custom acrylic can go beyond traditional applications to become an integral part of architectural and interior design.

We've been sharing the individual Gay Times Honours awards from 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Now we've brought the full story together.

From embedment and recycled acrylic to specialist printing and completely different visual treatments, each year gave us an opportunity to reinterpret the same recognisable award format.

It's a great example of what can happen when creative design and acrylic manufacturing come together.

For the 2023 Gay Times Honours, we took the familiar square format in another completely different direction.

This time the focus was on vibrant printed graphics, combining AI-generated artwork with our acrylic manufacturing and print capabilities.

Same format. Completely different result.

For Gay Times Honours 2022 and the theme Future Q***r, the award took a bold new direction.

Vibrant pink, texture, transparency and light transformed the established square format into something completely different.

It also incorporated our Remade recycled acrylic material.

A great example of how material and process can completely change an award without losing its identity.

2023 took it somewhere else again…
