The living layer. The layer most rooms forget.

We're now spending more time indoors. Layering our interiors for warmth and comfort. Living foliage is often overlooked. Fine leaves and arching stems. Foliage that filters the light rather than blocking it.

Most people know us for homes. We work on offices too.

Innovo's new headquarters runs across four levels of 63 St James's Street, tied together by a new internal staircase. The lower ground floor came with the hardest problem in the building: almost no natural light. Whitepaper's answer was integrated ceiling lightboxes — an even, daylight-quality wash where there had been none.

That's where the planting has to be honest. Light like that is plenty for the right species and nowhere near enough for the wrong ones. We specified [plant names] for exactly those conditions — plants that hold form and colour in low, consistent light instead of reaching for a window that isn't there.

Same calculation in a basement kitchen or a north-facing flat. The light you have decides the plant, not the other way round.

September is a turning point indoors as much as out. The light drops faster than most people adjust for.

Six small moves this month keep everything thriving through to spring — swipe through, save for later.

Every plant we deliver arrives with its own care guide, and our website chat can answer the odd questions. The unusual ones, we enjoy most.

Ancient artistry

The tree fern is older than the dinosaurs.

Their ancestors appeared around 360–400 million years ago, during the late Devonian and early Carboniferous periods, long before flowering plants evolved.
