Where is best to put large format tiles and mosaic tiles?

Well, large format tiles such as 60x120cm, 100x100cm and 120x280cm can work well in both small and large spaces as they create a clean and continuous look through minimising the number of grout lines. They are particularly good in small rooms as they can make them feel a lot bigger thanks to their vast appearance.

Mosaics on the other hand are typically best placed in very small areas such as niches, backsplashes, and awkward spaces, especially curved areas and items. They are flexible so they can be manoeuvred to fit in spaces that a standard tile wouldn't fit in, and many mosaics provide another layer of texture, pattern and colour to the space.

Remember, your space is unique to you, and there really are no rules when it comes to design, so don't feel restricted when choosing the tiles or mosaics where you feel will work best.

New for autumn: Caldera.

Beautiful marbles that replicate the patterns and tones of nature, Caldera consists of porcelain tiles that aren't the typical marbles that we all know.

We often get asked what the difference is between porcelain and ceramic tiles.

On the surface it might not seem that there is a huge difference as they're both made from clay, but it's during the manufacturing process where the differences come to light.

Porcelain is made from a fine dense clay with added minerals, and its fired at a high temperature. Ceramic on the other hand is made from a less dense clay, and it's fired at a lower temperature. This makes the final ceramic product softer compared to porcelain.

As it is more durable, porcelain tiles are best to be installed on floors and in busier areas as its highly resistant to water and general wear an tear. Ceramic tiles are best suited to be installed on walls and backsplashes. They're easier to cut because it's a softer material, so it's great for intricate cuts which are often needed when installing in smaller areas.

If you're unsure which tiles to choose for your next project, book a visit to our showroom and our sales team will be able to help you pick the right ones for you.

The beauty of wood tiles is that there is more flexibility when it comes to layouts, as well as better durability in comparison to real wood.

Herringbone and chevron are popular styles with wood tiles, and we can understand why. Simply adjusting the layout of the tiles can transform the space from looking nice to looking high-end.

Look carefully... there's a difference (and no, we're not talking about the tiles).

The grout colours you choose for your tiles can make or break the look.

You could go for something that matches the colour of the tiles you are opting for as shown here, or perhaps something more striking and choosing a contrasting colour, for example, white tiles with black grout.

It all depends on the style you prefer, and there's no right or wrong answer. We have a vast selection of grouts that you can choose from, because the finer details, some say, are most important.

Pop into our showroom to discuss all the options available for you.
