I once witnessed a cat committing papiliocide which was a cruel and distressing sight. The cat on this mug is serving a plate of butterfly cakes which is a more decorous, yet no less disconcerting way of consuming these delightful insects. If they can just un-stick their feet from the buttercream there’s a chance they could escape and an happy expected lifespan of two weeks.

This week we’ve seen more lethal strikes against Palestinians in Gaza. We’ve witnessed the terrorism of gangs of settlers in the West Bank under the protection of Israeli forces. Unless our governments implement real sanctions against the state that is perpetrating these atrocities their words mean nothing.

This week we learned of the death of 12 year old Muhammad Al-Shakhrat who was shot by Israeli forces while sitting outside his family’s tent in a “designated humanitarian site” in Gaza.
Meanwhile, the world goes about its business as if nothing has happened….

Fancy Bantams were originally bred in the hopes that they would lay fancy eggs? They were fed fancy vegetables like these decorative pumpkins so that they might produce orange and yellow eggs with stripes and other attractive patterns. This scheme was developed with the expectation that fancy bantam eggs would rival those that Fabergé made for Tsar Alexander III and make those poultry farmers rich.
