Wow, we did not anticipate SO many wonderful visitors to see inside our Crouch End house project. you didn’t warn us 😂😂😂. It was incredible to share so much about the design process and being able to explain the real ‘before and after’ (not the instagram version 😆), alongside the brilliant who created an amazing piece of residential design. I’ve never talked so much in my life … and I can talk!!! Any more questions about the project and we didn’t get a chance to chat yesterday please message here or email us at the studio…. The house that changed everything…. This project will always be the special one 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻. In 2015, Laura and I had been growing our business (kinda slowly and quietly) first working on rooms, then being offered a smattering of new homes and then THIS 🏡!!! (Insert dramatic music 🎶)

A family that have remained close friends, just took a chance on us . They literally handed over the vision and design of their forever home. Not only that, nothing went wrong 😂.

The core design principles we used are the exact same today. The main one being, design for the people living in the space. ✨✨✨

When I look at this house, I’m always reminded that anything is possible. 🤩🤩🤩

Happy Friday!

Would you create a bathroom with minimal tiles? I’m SO curious what you all think. Let me share why we made this space feel less bathroomy….

👉🏻 A wipeable paint finish is actually really durable, even in spaces that steam up. The space is made versatile.
👉🏻 If you get bored of the room, it’s an easy and inexpensive refresh to change the colour.
👉🏻 We chose tiles that look like floorboards. Over the past 5 years, fake finishes (wood/concrete etc) have come on light years and can look so so good. The ‘wood’ floor feels so warm and inviting.
👉🏻 Smaller spaces feel less overwhelming without tiles all the way up to the ceiling. This huge window and beautiful view are the feature, so we worked with the feel of the room, the natural light and the height of the space.
👉🏻 A bathroom can feel like a cosy room, not a functional wet space.
👉🏻 It just looked and felt ‘right’ … that’s not a very technical reason, but design is so much about using your gut.

Lemme know what you would do…

Once upon a time we designed the interiors for a beautiful barber shop. Not knowing anything, we dived into the history of barbers, only to discover they were once known as barber- surgeons. Hence why there used to be sawdust on the floor. To collect the blood!!!

“The barber surgeon, one of the most common European medical practitioners of the Middle Ages, was generally charged with caring for soldiers during and after battle. In this era, surgery was seldom conducted by physicians, but instead by barbers, who, possessing razors and coordination indispensable to their trade, were called upon for numerous tasks ranging from cutting hair to amputating limbs”.

The illustrations (drawn beautifully by ) were inspired by this history.
