Another year around the ☀️!!

Happy birthday to our friend and former client, Sindhu, owner of 🥰🥰🥰

Her standards in this industry are the reason this clinic looks, feels and works the way it does. We were glad to design and build it for her!

Five things that stop a clinic feeling clinical:

1. Work with the building. Most clinics are leasehold, so the structure and utilities usually stay as they are. Of course you could divide open spaces and be creative - Panelling, cornicing and colour add the warmth back.

2. Choose the floor for wear. A hard-wearing, scratch-resistant floor can still read as real wood. For example a luxury vinyl in a herringbone pattern.

3. Add one custom piece. Joinery made for the space, like the fluted reception desk and arched shelving here, is what people remember. In this case we even made the reception desk!

4. Layer the lighting. Treatment rooms need good task light. Everywhere else, keep it warm white.

5. Now the exciting bit - Check CQC requirements before choosing finishes. If your clinic is regulated, surfaces and sinks need to meet infection control standards.

The art of the archway ✨

Arches aren’t a trend piece here – they’re doing the quiet, architectural work of guiding you through each space.

In our projects, arches aren’t decoration – they’re how we shape movement, mood and light. They soften strong lines, frame key views and turn everyday thresholds into moments you actually feel as you walk through.

From bathrooms and nurseries to kitchens, hallways and living spaces, every curve here is custom to its room – scaled to the ceiling height, aligned with sightlines and layered with texture, colour and joinery so it belongs to the architecture, not just the trend cycle.

Design notes you can steal:
• Use an arch to lead the eye towards a view or focal point, not just to “pretty up” a doorway.
• Pair soft curves with tailored joinery and stone for that quiet-luxury balance.
• Repeat the radius subtly across a project (niches, shelving, openings) so it feels intentional, not theme-y.

SAVE this for your future renovation, and follow Aflux Designs for more high-end design details that make a home feel considered from the first step inside.
