C & R Lampshades, established in 1994 is a family run business. We make beautifully handcrafted classic fabric lampshades.

Continuing the legacy of our dear late founder, Charlotte Ann Ryan Coombes. We hand craft bespoke lampshades from conception to finished product. At our frame workshop we can create frames of any shape and size which are then taken to our working showroom where the covering is done. The shades can be covered in a wide variety of materials including silk, card or a fabric supplied by the client. We can convert vases, bottles and anything else suitable to create your own unique individual showpiece just contact us with specific details.

There’s not been much need for me to use a sewing machine in the time I’ve been with C & R as the majority of our work is done by hand. Charlotte was the expert with the machines, I’m an absolute beginner. So thank you to Jo for helping us to create these bespoke shades for our customer! 🌷✨

One type of silk that behaves… another one that doesn’t 🙃

A softer silk works best with a box pleat. There are ways to make misbehaving silk sit better for a box pleat but the results aren’t as pleasing as they are with finer silks.
