It's another beautiful morning here in Quarriers Village so worthy of a follow-up post.
I delivered my coaster box options to the client yesterday morning and gave them the choice. A laminated Sapele box with etched copper drawer fronts finished with Danish Oil and beeswax or a laminated Beech body, hand wiped with Morrells black stain then sprayed with a lacquer/Morrells mix. Again with etched copper and a beeswax finish.
The coasters were Sapele with a black resin fill in Lichtenberg fractals. They seemed very happy with the choices even after I told them I had hoped to have three to choose from but the unfinished box in Oak which I planned to ebonise or render with Shou Sugi Ban charring hadn't progressed far enough πͺ. I'm a wanna be over achiever who constantly underachieves π€·
They went with the very Mackintosh esk version in monochrome which I get.
Shortly after dropping it off I sold the Sapele version to a returning customer π±, a totally unexpected, but satisfying outcome.
I'm kinda hooked on the etching and thinking next a Wallace Monument style drwer front, maybe Edinburgh castle. Not sure if there would be too much detail but maybe a family coatbof arms as a copper etched drawer front π€
Thoughts...
