Hi, my name is Rachael Welby and I create handstitched gifts and creations for the home using felt. My designs are all my own work, from sketching the initial design to cutting out, before finally stitching (and stuffing). I stitch all my creations by hand with just a needle and thread giving that unique human touch to my work. I pride myself on the quality, care, and attention to detail when making each piece. Most of what I make is made to order and this page showcases what I have made. Many of my designs can be altered to suit your needs or decor. All you need to do is ask! The name 'Cubicle 1 Creations' gives a nod to my late son James, from when he received radiotherapy and chemotherapy for his inoperable brain tumour, which he was diagnosed with at just 6 months old. He spent many weeks and months in hospital and Cubicle 1 was his room on the hospital ward. He sadly passed away in 2012, aged 10. I dedicate Cubicle 1 Creations to my boy James.

NEEDLES DOWN - OUT OF OFFICE

After a very busy few weeks stitching and stabbing wool I am feeling it's all taking it's toll abit and I am feeling fatigued, so with it being half term I have decided to take a few days away from my desk, social media and my fone and spend some time with my family.

Hopefully with a few days of needles down it will give me time to recharge my batteries ready for the busiest time of the year. Living with ME/CFS I need to be very careful especially at this time of year and manage my time as best I can so not to cause a full body crash.

I will be back to it on Thursday.

*this photo was taken a few months back when Hetty got blew off her feet by a gust of wind, I can confirm she is all snuggled up under her fluffy blanket with me and is not going anywhere today! 😁

How is it where you are? Did anyone manage any sleep last night with it's extra bonus hour of wakefulness? 😴😴

Looking at what is happening at Kirkleatham Walled Garden over the weekend.

The Off The Wall Collective shop will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the cafe. My handstitched gifts and creations will be there along with Caroline Colours Creative's handmade pieces, James Brunt Artist prints, cards and his amazing book Land Art, and more!
- Card payments are accepted when the shop is open.

James' "Home" exhibition can also be found in the Bothy Gallery within the Walled Garden where you can browse and buy one of his special edition Kirkleatham prints,

and if that wasn't enough the lovely Geraldine of Bean Creative has a couple of spaces available on her 3x metal bangle workshop!

Don't forget the gardens and Kirkleatham Walled Garden • The Garden Café will be open too!

Rudey nudey piglets! 🐷🐷🐷🐷😆

Today is a piglet production kind of day!

My daughter is away at Uni and between her lectures and lab practicals she is busy crocheting these little piggies some blankets to hide their blushes! 🤭

These will be on the shelves at Kirkleatham Walled Garden and Westgate Pottery in a couple of weeks, but they can be ordered direct now!

Last night I was invited to the launch event of the James Brunt Artist "Home" exhibition in the Bothy Gallery at Kirkleatham Walled Garden.

I may have spent some pennies too. 😍

The exhibition opens to the public today and you will find his framed prints for sale along with cards and his incredible book - Land Art.
James, who is one of the most humble and unassuming guys whilst also being a globally renowned artist, will be there creating new art work in the garden aswell as being available to sign copies of his book too.

The exhibition runs until mid December.

You will also find a selection of mounted prints, cards and his book available to buy every weekend in the Off The Wall Collective in the Kirkleatham Walled Garden • The Garden Café too!

I would just love to spend a few minutes inside his head whilst he creates his incredible work. Mind boggling!

Wensleydale wool baubles! 🐑🐑🐑

Available individually, or as a boxed set of 2, 4 or 6.

With a new batch of Wensleydale wool, this time direct from the Curly Girls flock at Chilton Grounds Farm I just cannot get enough of these soft and silky locks! Oh my, these are so tactile to work with!

Measuring approx 8cm diameter each bauble has a Herdwick wool core and finished off with generous top layer of the Wensleydale wool.

Did you know the Wensleydale breed of sheep are classed as rare and endangered and on the at risk register with fewer than 500 breeding ewes in the country? Their wool is considered to be the finest and highest-lustre longwool in the world! This breed of sheep and the wool they provide us with are so special.

Let's support British wool and British farmers!

These baubles are priced from £8 per bauble and can be bought alongside my bright and colourful Sari Silk baubles aswell as my Natural Collection.

I only have a limited amount of these locks, so if you are wanting some of these baubles don't leave it too long to get your order in!

"With love from Masham" 🐑❤️🐑❤️🐑

Back in August I was approached by the lovely Jude from the Mashamshire Community Office asking if I could provide a small flock of Swaledale sheep for the annual Masham Sheep Fair held at the back end of September, along with some of my handstitched sheep designs.

As you can imagine I was very happy to oblige. If truth be told I may have been slightly giddy. 😆 What an absolute honour to be asked.

Whilst all of the needlefelt sheep sold on the weekend of the fair, the Community Office (which is situated on the Market Place) do still have a few of the handstitched sheep in stock. They look great hanging on a Christmas tree, just saying. 😉

Make sure you pop in next time you are there!
