Extensions can give you the space that you need, but being bold and adding another floor can change the whole look of your property. These sorts of opportunities don’t come along often, but the results can be stunning.

This client took the plunge…. And what a result 😍. A wonderful renovation that doesn’t even look like the same house!

If this is something you would love to do, then please do get in touch!

This property already had a rear extension, but it had created three cramped rooms. Our design squared off the space in the back yard created by the previous extension, and moved the kitchen, which now links with the garden. It also provided a bootroom/utility and snug.

The loft dormer to the front was updated and continues the colour and cladding of the new rear extension.

Our client is delighted and we think it looks pretty smart!

YOUR GARDEN JUST GOT A LITTLE MORE INTERESTING…
The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) has been updated — and frankly, some bits of land might want to start updating their CV.
There’s now explicit support for new-build homes on things like:
🌱 That spare bit of garden
🔨 The garage you haven’t parked a car in since 2007
🏚️ Those tired old outbuildings
🏘️ Infill plots tucked inside towns and villages
📍 Land within settlement boundaries
🌳 Plots on the edge of towns and villages
🩶 Suitable “grey belt” sites in the Green Belt
So… That bit of garden you’ve always thought “I wonder…”
That garage currently full of Christmas decorations, old bikes and things you’re definitely going to use one day?
That little plot sitting there minding its own business?
It might be time to stop looking at it as “a bit of land” and start looking at it as “potentially a house”.
The planning rulebook has had a bit of a makeover — and more opportunities for new homes on suitable sites are now firmly on the agenda.
So go on…
Take another look at that garden.

As the price of fuel continues to rise, David has been tinkering with a different kind of motor to those we normally know him for 😜……

This project is progressing brilliantly. Thank you to for their photos (love that you’ve included our drawings in your post🥰) and to our client for the progress photo. Can’t wait to see how it changes going forward!

It’s been a while since we’ve put a spotlight on the DMA staff….. Rouxleen de Waal (Roux) our Senior CAD Technician has so many strings to her bow that we can’t quite keep up! As well as doing much of our drawing work, she is a hugely artistic lady – painting, getting creative with woodwork, metalwork – there is literally no end to her talents. Amazingly, she also finds time to volunteer at local wetlands as well as travelling to different areas of the world most years. We are in awe 😍.
