🌧️ Rain stopped play… but not progress! 💪🎨

Unfortunately, the British weather had other plans for us today, with rain stopping work on our jobs in Cotton, Stowmarket and East Bergholt! ☔

Rather than lose a day, we headed over to our HMO project in Rushmere for Ross Westren to keep things moving! 🏠

Plenty of preparation work getting done today! 👌

✅ Mist coating – Getting the fresh plaster sealed and ready for decorating.

✅ Wall preparation – Filling imperfections with Toupret TX110 to get those walls looking spot on.

✅ Fire door frames – All thoroughly prepped, with bare timber primed using UniPrimer.

✅ Finishing touches – Frames rubbed down again and filled using Toupret Wood Filler, ready for the next stages of decorating.

As always, preparation is key to achieving a quality finish! 🎯

A productive day despite the weather, and another step closer to getting this property finished to a high standard.

✨ Another transformation completed by JABdec! ✨

A fantastic before-and-after on this set of timber French doors and side panels! 🚪🏡

We’ve given these doors a fresh new lease of life, removing the old solid panels and cat flap, replacing them with new glass to create a much brighter, cleaner and more modern look.

The existing doors have been completely refreshed, with a beautiful crisp white finish that really brings everything together! 👌

🤝 A great team effort:

🏛️ 500 YEARS OF HISTORY – AND STILL GOING STRONG! 🎨🔨

Not every day you get to work on a door that's 500 years old! 👏

We've been carrying out restoration and decorating work at a stunning Grade I listed property on East Hill in Colchester, believed to be the oldest house in the city!

This time, I had the pleasure of bringing this incredible 500-year-old back door back to life.

With a property of this age, it's all about taking your time, respecting the original features and giving it the care and attention it deserves.

Plenty of preparation, sanding, attention to detail and a fresh finish to protect the door while keeping its historic character.

From 500 years of history to a fresh new lease of life! 💪

It's a real privilege to work on buildings like this and play a small part in preserving Colchester's history for future generations.

🏡 Before ➡️ During ➡️ After | Larks Hill, Tuddenham

Another exterior project completed, and this one involved a lot more than just a coat of paint! 👌

We carried out thorough preparation and repairs to get the property ready for decorating, using Toupret fillers and the Repair Care system where required.

Once all the prep and repairs were completed, we finished the exterior using Zinsser AllCoat, leaving the Tudor-style black and cream looking clean, sharp and properly protected. 🎨

All materials for the job supplied by Brewers Decorator Centres 👍

Really pleased with how this one came together.

✨ Heritage property wallpaper transformation in Clare ✨

Another beautiful project completed by the JABdec team on this stunning heritage property in Clare.

As always, the finish starts with the preparation 👌

🔹 Walls prepared using our Mirka sanding system with dust extraction
🔹 Cracks filled and raked out using TouPret TX110
🔹 Walls fully sized
🔹 Wallrock Fibreliner installed to create the perfect base
🔹 Finished with beautifully hung Mulberry wallpaper

Working on a heritage property means taking the time to get the preparation absolutely right — and we think the finished result speaks for itself.

A great job by the team! 👏

It’s been a while since we’ve posted, so we thought we’d give you a little update from JABdec LTD.

Apologies for the lack of posts over the spring and summer — it’s not been because we’ve been sitting around!

It’s been prep, prep and more prep for us lately, getting things ready for our latest project at a beautiful heritage property in Tuddenham St Martin.

There’s a fair bit that goes on behind the scenes before the main work can really get underway, and we’ve been busy getting everything prepared and making sure things are right from the start.

We’ve taken a few photos along the way, so here’s a little look at what we’ve been up to.

More updates to come as things start to take shape. 👍

Another stunning project completed at Ganges Point on the Shotley Peninsula ✨

We installed this beautiful “Fornasetti” wallpaper in the entrance lobby of a lovely apartment — a real statement piece that transforms the space.

Preparation was key:
✔️ Thorough sanding of all walls using our Mirka sander and dust extraction system
✔️ Full lining with Wallrock Fibreliner for a flawless finish

All materials were supplied by .

A big thank you to our wonderful client for the warm hospitality (the filtered coffee was spot on ☕️) and for leaving us such a fantastic review!

At JABdec Ltd, we don’t just focus on the job in front of us — we invest in the future of our trade.

Training the next generation is a huge part of what we stand for. It’s about passing on skills, building confidence, and making sure high standards continue for years to come.

Jack, our Year 2 apprentice, is continuing to develop his finishing skills using Johnstones Aqua Satin, showing great attention to detail and steady progress.

Meanwhile, Jake, our Year 1 apprentice, is getting hands-on experience applying AF1 to papered ceilings — learning the fundamentals that every great decorator needs.

Everyone starts somewhere, and with the right guidance, support, and opportunities, they grow into skilled professionals.

We’re proud to be part of that journey.
