Homesitters Limited While you’re away, our employees will stay in your home and look after everything. Our clients don’t just call us when they go on holidays or business trips.

We have more than 35 years experience of looking after our clients’ pets and most treasured possessions, and we’ve completed over 90,000 bookings. The concept is simple: we provide a live-in service while you’re away, so your home is secure and well-maintained and your pets enjoy companionship in familiar surroundings. We have an extensive network of homesitters across England, Wales and Scotland, all meticulously vetted and fully insured, and we provide 24/7 back-up throughout their stay. We care for homes that are awaiting probate, sale or repossession or are between tenants, and we offer civilised caretakers and site management for empty properties too. Homesitters can provide a homesitter at very short notice and for as long as required – from just a couple of days to months or even years. We normally have a two-day minimum charge, however we also offer a special one-day service for clients attending events such as weddings or funerals, so you can relax in the knowledge that your home and pets are in safe hands.

Meet our Homesitters Pets of the Month for October 2026: the fabulous pack of Lucky, Finn, Winnie, Buddy, and Scarlet! 🐾

Their owners share: "Our five beloved dogs are Finn, the Irish Wolfhound, Buddy and Scarlet, the 2 Fox Red Labradors, Winnie the Dachshund and Lucky the Toy Poodle (otherwise know as “The Boss”!)

They are an eclectic bunch ranging from one to 14 years and are the best of friends.

Finn is our gentle giant, frightened of his own shadow (!) but equally protective of his family. Not far off the size of the smallest donkey, he is the source of much interest from passers by!

Buddy loves nothing more than to chase balls, Scarlett loves nothing more than to shred them and Winnie is a digger!! She’ll hide anything she can get her paws on, in or outside, burying socks and slippers anywhere from sofas to the flower beds!!

Lucky's favourite spot is the sofa, with a close eye on all of the other dogs and keeping them in line!

They are all lovable, loyal souls with funny, quirky personalities that bring us so much pleasure every single day. They have slowly but very surely, welcomed lambs and donkeys onto their patch and seem content with the new additions, spending many an hour nose to nose with them through the fence :)"

🎃🐶 COSTUME OR NO COSTUME? Your pet's comfort comes first! 🐾👻

Halloween is a fun time to dress up, but does your dog enjoy the experience as much as you enjoy the photos? ❤️

Before choosing a spooky outfit for your four-legged friend, vets recommend keeping three important things in mind: fit, breathing and stress levels.

🐕 Check the fit: Your dog should be able to walk, sit, lie down and climb stairs comfortably. Costumes must never restrict breathing or movement.

🎃 Watch out for hazards: Avoid masks, dangling ribbons, loose decorations and small parts that could be swallowed. Choose breathable materials and keep costumes away from naked flames, candles and bonfires.

🐾 Look for signs of stress: Panting, flattened ears, pacing, crouching or repeatedly trying to remove an outfit can indicate discomfort. If your pet isn't happy, take the costume off.

❤️ Remember, not every pet enjoys dressing up! Older pets, anxious animals and flat-faced breeds may be more comfortable without a costume. A festive bandana or a pumpkin-themed photo can be just as much fun.

The golden rule? Your pet's comfort and wellbeing should always come before the perfect Halloween picture.
