This huge eucalyptus had outgrown its space and was standing very close to the house, giving the homeowner cause for concern, so it was time for it to come down.

Giving a Concerned Homeowner Some Peace of Mind!🌲

We were recently called out after one of a pair of mature conifers had failed, lifting its root plate and causing understandable concern for the homeowner. With the neighbouring tree now standing alone and exposed to the full force of the wind, there were worries that it could suffer a similar fate.

The homeowner was keen to retain the remaining tree due to the wildlife it supports, with owls, robins and other birds regularly seen using the area for shelter and nesting.

After assessing the tree, we carried out a reduction to remove some of the “sail” effect, reducing wind loading while retaining as much of the tree as possible. This approach helps lower the risk of future failure while preserving an important habitat for local wildlife.

A great example of finding a balance between tree management, safety, and conservation. 🌿🦉🐦

Emergency Tree Work Completed 🚨

We were recently called out after a large poplar tree suffered a major stem failure, leaving the remaining section standing in an unsafe condition.

After assessing the damage, it was clear the remaining stem posed a risk to the surrounding area, so we safely dismantled and felled the rest of the tree before any further failure could occur.

✅ Emergency response
✅ Safe dismantling of the remaining stem
✅ Site left safe and tidy
✅ All arisings processed and cleared

Trees can fail without warning due to decay, storm damage, structural defects, or other underlying issues. If you have concerns about a tree on your property, it’s always worth having it inspected before it becomes a bigger problem.

Nesting season is coming to an end but wildlife checks still matter!🌳🐦

As we move into September, the main bird nesting season in the UK is coming to an end, meaning many tree and hedge works can now be carried out with fewer seasonal restrictions and the likelihood of nesting birds decreases significantly.

However, wildlife doesn’t follow a calendar🐿️🦇

Before carrying out any tree work, we still need to carefully inspect trees, hedges and surrounding areas for active nests and other wildlife.

Depending on the site, this can include:
- 🐦 Active bird nests
- 🦇 Bats and potential bat roosts
- 🦔 Hedgehogs and other ground dwelling wildlife
- 🐿️ Squirrels and other mammals
- 🪺 Other signs of wildlife activity

At RTTS, we take a responsible approach to tree work completing the necessary checks before work begins.
