🌿 WE’RE HIRING – GARDEN CENTRE WORKER 🌿
📍 Location: Guilthwaite Nurseries, Whiston, Rotherham
⏰ Hours: Full-time- 42.5 hours per week
📅 Contract: Permanent
🌱 Do you love being outdoors, working with people and getting stuck in?
We’re looking for a hardworking, reliable and friendly Garden Centre Worker to join our team.
This is a hands-on, varied role – no two days are the same! You’ll be working across the garden centre, looking after plants, helping customers, handling deliveries and keeping everything looking its best.
🛠️ What you'll be doing
• 🌿 Looking after plants, including watering and general plant care.
• 🚚 Loading and unloading deliveries.
• 🚛 Completing customer deliveries using a company vehicle.
• 🏋️ Regular heavy lifting and manual handling.
• 🧹 Keeping the garden centre safe, clean and tidy.
• 🛒 Restocking and maintaining attractive product displays.
• 😊 Providing friendly, helpful customer service and advice.
• 💷 Serving customers and operating the till.
• 🌱 Helping customers with plant and product queries.
• 🤝 Supporting the wider team wherever needed.
✅ What we're looking for
A full UK driving licence is essential.
We're looking for someone who is:
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking.
• Friendly and confident with customers.
• Happy working outdoors in all typical UK weather.
• Comfortable with regular heavy lifting and physical work.
• Practical, organised and able to use their own initiative.
• A team player who isn't afraid to get stuck in.
• Flexible and willing to turn their hand to different jobs.
🌟 Experience isn't everything!
Plant knowledge is desirable, but NOT essential.
If you've got a genuine interest in plants and gardening, that's a bonus – but we can help you develop your knowledge.
A forklift truck licence is also desirable, but not essential.
Previous experience in a garden centre, nursery, horticulture, retail, warehouse or delivery role would be useful, but we're more interested in finding someone with the right attitude and work ethic.
🌿 Why join us?
You'll be joining a friendly, hands-on team where you'll have the chance to:
• Learn more about plants and horticulture.
• Develop your customer service and retail skills.
• Get involved in a wide variety of work.
• Work in an outdoor environment rather than being stuck behind a desk.
• Become an important part of a busy local garden centre.
If you're reliable, practical, friendly and enjoy getting stuck in, we'd love to hear from you!
