🏠 ANOTHER FLAT ROOF COMPLETED!

I recently popped back to see how our customers were getting on after we’d replaced their flat roof.

They told me they’d had three quotes before choosing Shires, but it was the time Gavin, our company owner, took to explain everything properly that made the difference.

🏠 BEFORE & AFTER – WHAT A DIFFERENCE A NEW ROOF MAKES!

Another conservatory transformed by the Shires team! 👏

This one had an old polycarbonate roof, making the conservatory a room that was rarely used once the colder months arrived.

We’ve replaced it with a fully insulated roof, complete with a beautifully plastered ceiling and new LED downlights.

One thing the customers were worried about was losing natural light.

But when I visited to see the finished job, they couldn’t believe how bright the room still was, even on a gloomy day with the lights switched off!

The biggest difference? They’ve now got a much more comfortable, inviting space they can enjoy throughout the year.

This project involved creating a new garden room with a SupaLite insulated roof, opening it into the existing house to create a proper year-round extension of the home.

🏠 A returning customer. A 130-year-old bay. And another transformation we’re proud to put our name to.

This beautiful older property had a front bay structure dating back around 130 years, with the existing PVC windows themselves approximately 38 years old.

Having previously trusted Shires to replace other windows in their home — and even recommended us to a neighbour afterwards — when the time came to tackle the large front bay, they came straight back to us without obtaining other quotations.

It was a substantial installation, but the finished result has made a real difference — not only restoring and improving such an important feature of the property, but noticeably reducing outside noise too.

🏡 WHY MOVE WHEN YOU CAN CREATE THE SPACE YOU NEED AT HOME?

This family had considered whether, as their young children grew up, they might eventually need to move to a bigger house.

But there was one problem…

They already liked where they lived. ❤️

So instead of moving, they decided to create the extra space they needed with a brand-new Shires garden room.

And what a difference it’s made. 👌

A bright new living space with extensive glazing, bifold doors, an insulated roof and an internal pelmet ready for spotlights – all designed to feel like a genuine extension of the home.

There is apparently still one important design decision outstanding though…

FROM HAILSTORM DAMAGE TO A ROOM THEY CAN USE ALL YEAR 🏡

This one started as a simple insurance repair and ended up becoming something much better.

The homeowners are existing Shires customers, and after the recent hailstorm damaged their old polycarbonate conservatory roof, they contacted us for a quotation to replace it.

When I went out to assess the damage, I suggested another option.

Rather than simply using the insurance contribution to put another polycarbonate roof back on, why not use that money towards upgrading to a fully insulated Smart Roof instead?

They decided it was too good an opportunity to miss — and we're glad they did!

The old polycarbonate roof has now been replaced with our Smart Roof system, completely changing the feel and potential of the conservatory. Instead of a room that becomes extremely cold and difficult to use through winter, they've now got a space they're looking forward to enjoying throughout the year.

A special mention for Chris, who received fantastic feedback from the customer. They described him as “excellent”, praised how tidy he kept everything and how well he kept them informed throughout the installation.
