Showcasing some creative work from the Lizard team!

As Assistant Landscape Architect Oisin Collishe returns to the University of Sheffield to complete his Master's in Landscape Architecture, Lizard is pleased to share some of the work he produced during his time with the team.

These playful Photoshop collages were developed to illustrate the landscape proposals surrounding a social housing development, bringing the outdoor spaces to life through an imaginative approach to visualisation.

They demonstrate how creative graphics can help communicate landscape design ideas during the early stages of a project.

Lizard wishes Oisin all the best as he continues his studies and thanks him for his contribution to the team!

🌿 Exploring the landscape of the Cotswolds

The Lizard Landscape Design & Ecology team recently undertook a landscape and visual field survey in South Gloucestershire as part of a Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA).

The visit took in a distinctive landscape of greenways defined by woodland belts and veteran lime trees, alongside narrow rural lanes lined with mature oaks, traditional drystone walls and formal avenues of trees.

Fieldwork is an important part of Lizard's landscape planning services, allowing the team to experience and understand the character of a landscape first-hand and helping to inform the assessment process.

Here are a few photographs from the team's visit!

Another fieldwork trip for the Lizard team, this time within the Cotswolds.

The team undertook a landscape and visual field survey in South Gloucestershire as part of an LVIA, taking in a distinctive designed landscape of greenways defined by linear woodland belts and dispersed veteran lime trees.

Narrow rural lanes are lined with spreading oaks, while more formal estate roads are characterised by regimented avenues of trees. Drystone walls and mature oaks add further texture, helping to create the distinctive character of the landscape.

Field surveys such as this provide an important opportunity to experience and understand the landscape first-hand, helping to inform the landscape and visual assessment process.

Congratulations to Josh Peacock, who is celebrating 25 years working in landscape architecture!

The milestone also comes after 10 years heading up the Landscape Planning discipline at Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology.

Over the course of his career, Josh has built extensive experience across landscape planning, strategic design and LVIA, working on a wide range of projects and helping to develop Lizard’s landscape planning expertise.

A fantastic milestone and a great opportunity to recognise Josh’s contribution to the practice and the profession over the past 25 years.

Congratulations, Josh!

Fieldwork in Chichester Harbour

Earlier this summer, the Lizard team headed to Chichester Harbour National Landscape to undertake a landscape and visual field survey.

Working along the harbour edge near Itchenor, the team captured views across a distinctive landscape where open water meets saltmarsh and eelgrass, framed by the characterful, gnarled oaks lining the shoreline.

There were some added benefits to a day in the field too, with the calls of flocks of brent geese echoing across the water around Chalkdock Point.

A beautiful setting for a day’s survey work.

More fantastic recognition for Heathfield Youth Centre!

The project has been named a finalist in the 2026 Structural Timber Awards, in the Retail & Leisure Project of the Year category.

The latest recognition follows the project being Highly Commended at the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards earlier this year.

Lizard Landscape Design and Ecology was delighted to be part of the project team as Landscape Architect and to see the scheme recognised once again.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and best of luck at the awards!

Greg is now preparing to undertake his VETcert exam to become a registered veteran tree consultant, with the practice also supporting him on the next stage of his professional development towards Chartership.
