💥 Is your electrical system up to date? 💥
Many homes, businesses, rental properties and commercial buildings in York still have outdated or poorly maintained electrical installations. This can create serious safety risks.
Ask yourself a few simple questions:
• Is your fuse board modern and in good condition?
• Have you had your wiring checked in the last few years?
• Are your sockets, switches and lighting working safely?
• Do you notice tripping circuits or overheating?
For businesses, landlords and letting agents there are extra responsibilities:
• Are you up to date with PAT testing for portable appliances?
• Do you have a current Electrical Installation Condition Report?
• Are all required electrical certificates in place and valid?
These checks are essential for several reasons.
Fire safety - Faulty electrics are one of the main causes of building fires. A modern consumer unit and regular inspections greatly reduce this risk.
Legal compliance - Landlords and businesses must meet strict regulations. Up to date reports and testing help you fulfil your duty of care.
Insurance requirements - Many insurers require valid electrical certificates and PAT testing. Without them you may not be covered if something goes wrong.
Protecting people - Regular testing ensures employees, tenants and customers are safe from electric shock or equipment failure.
Saving money 💰 - Identifying small faults early prevents expensive repairs later.
If you are unsure about any of the above, now is the perfect time to check.
