The textured glaze, the raw clay edge, the small shifts in tone from one tile to the next. These details come from craftsmanship, and they give a surface its character.

Industrial tiles repeat. Handmade ones don’t, and that variation is a large part of what our eye reads as quality.

The tile defines the room.

A fine mosaic in a soft neutral covers the wall, and a band of terracotta-orange squares anchors the counter below. Two scales and two tones give the space its structure before we notice anything else.

Handmade tiles carry small differences in colour and surface, so even a plain wall has depth. Change the tile and the same room reads differently.
