🌿 Chairs Glorious Chairs: Day 7 🌿
Today marks the final day of our week-long homage to chairs, and what an incredible week it has been celebrating the pieces that shape our homes!
To wrap up our appreciation week, we simply have to look back at the absolute design giants that set the gold standard for comfort and craftsmanship. Today, we are raising a glass to the greats—names like Guy Rogers and Parker Knoll. These master craftspeople, along with all the beautifully designed armchairs out there, deserve endless recognition for the pure, unadulterated comfort and sanctuary they bring into our living spaces.
But as we close out the week, let’s also salute the humble kitchen dining chair. It is, quite literally, the backbone of the chair world. They hold up our daily routines, endure the messy reality of family life, and quietly anchor the heart of the home.

Sometimes, a thoughtful refresh makes the biggest difference—not just to a piece of furniture, but to the entire room it lives in.

Today, I’m bringing it back to the humble dining chair because I truly believe they deserve another shout-out. Think about how much life happens around a dining table. These chairs are the quiet workhorses of the home, enduring years of family dinners, daily routines, and late-night conversations.

They are incredibly resilient, built to last, and carry so many wonderful memories. More often than not, they don't need to be replaced—they just need a little expert care to ready them for the next generation. With some minor structural adjustments, they are easily made solid for many more years to come.
Take this cherished family set, for example:

• The Frame: A gentle clean and polish revived the timber, allowing the warm, natural wood grain to glow beautifully once again.
• The Fabric: We replaced the original well-loved, well-worn dark seats with a beautiful, textured light textile.
• The Result: The new fabric completely lifts the chairs, making the whole set feel bright, fresh, and ready for a modern space.

By pairing a fresh fabric choice—whether traditional or completely quirky—with a polished frame, you get a stunning transformation. The chairs are perfectly prepared for their next chapter, beautifully preserving all that precious family

Every time a Parker Knoll arrives in the workshop, I feel a deep sense of responsibility.
Restoring Mid-Century furniture is always a delicate dance. On one hand, I have an immense respect for the original craftsmanship and want to keep the piece as authentic as possible. On the other hand, my goal is to open these timeless designs to a wider, modern audience.

Getting the combination right is a true balancing act:
• Respecting the chair's history and structure
• Selecting a wood finish that enhances its natural grain
• Choosing a fabric that feels fresh, yet completely at home on a classic frame

For this small armchair, I did a lot of mind-changing along the way! But I couldn't be happier with where it landed. We stripped away the tired, heavily patterned floral fabric and replaced it with a beautiful, subtle plaid that bridges the gap between mid-century heritage and a clean, modern aesthetic. The wood tones have been beautifully restored to glow alongside the new textiles.
It is still every bit a classic Parker Knoll—ready for its next chapter in a contemporary home.

Yesterday, I talked about the heroes of design—those legendary, famous names that take your breath away.
But let’s not forget the unsung heroes. The everyday chairs we take for granted.
They support us day in and day out, expecting absolutely nothing in return. Because of their practical nature, they rarely get much attention, but they end up taking the absolute brunt of everyday life. The wear, the tear, the history of a busy home.
But as you can see from these before-and-afters, they deserve a second chance just as much as any designer piece. They deserve to be lifted up, given a new life, and allowed to shine again.
Every chair has a story worth saving.💚

Whatever your job, business, or dream is, there is always that "Holy Grail" moment...
When I first received a WhatsApp message with an image of an iconic Guy Rogers chair and the simple words, "Can you help?", it was absolutely heart-stopping.
Then, Tomáś shared the rich family history behind them—the story of his parents and how these beautiful pieces came into his possession. As he spoke, it felt like a film rolling in my head. Tomáś had a very clear picture of what he wanted for them... and then it was up to us to deliver.
That is always the most anxious moment in restoration. No matter how many years I’ve been doing this, I still feel that nervous anticipation waiting for the client's reaction! But following the anxiety comes pure joy and relief.
It was an amazing opportunity to work with such a legendary, iconic design and an absolutely wonderful owner. 💚

Continuing our week-long celebration of chairs that have passed through our hands, today’s transformation is a story of camaraderie and fun.

Meet Siobhan’s rocking chair.
When it first arrived, it was cloaked in tired, dark brown velvet and worn wood. Deciding on its new look wasn't a rushed decision—it took Siobhan weeks to choose the perfect fabric. But those weeks turned into a beautiful ritual. Her visits brought wonderful company and endless chat that completely brightened up the dark winter evenings.
Despite usually leaning toward dark, safe colours, she took a leap of faith and chose this jaw-dropping, vibrant electric blue. Having gotten to know her over those evenings, I knew instantly it was the perfect choice—it completely reflects her glorious personality!
Sometimes, our true colours come through in the most unexpected ways. 🩵

Those of you who know me will be aware of my love for chairs, from greats like Parker Knoll and Guy Rogers to the basic kitchen chair. This week, I'm going to celebrate those that have passed through our hands, hoping they give you ideas for restoring any chairs you have that may need a little "Va-va-voom"

Lets start with one of my favourites:
