So delighted to be selected as a Finalist in the Wellness category of the prestigious Irish Country Magazine awards for the second year, sponsored by Revive Active. To be among so many Irish brands I truly admire is an honour and not something I take lightly. To be a part of these awards was a bit of a dream of mine when I started Wizard & Grace to create wellness candles for real life from my wax-splotched kitchen in 2022.

Thank you to everyone who has bought and lit a candle or pulse point, spread the word about our essential oil products and who has supported or advised along the way. It's nearly candle season and while we would obviously love for you to burn Wizard & Grace exclusively next season, at the very least here are five candle red flags to avoid! 🚩

None of these tongue in cheek points are aimed at anyone or any brand - I just care a lot about safety and what goes near a flame. (The US National Candle Association has flagged embedded botanicals as a fire risk after their own lab testing so it's not just me being fussy.)

Wizard & Grace - No foliage. No crystals. No Synthetic Compound no 408. Just essential oils from actual plants — the real thing, not its stunt double. 🌿

I don't want a candle that smells of an imitation of a plant or nature - I want the scent of nature in my home which is why at Wizard & Grace we refuse to do imitations. Our candles are scented only with therapeutic grade essential oils.

Summer yoga means outdoor practice, extra sunshine, that blissful feeling of being at one wirh nature. And also increased sweat, creepy crawlies - and dogs - invading your mat and, well, feet. 🤣 What you also have is a yoga mat that could probably use a daily refresh. ☀️

Our simple DIY Yoga Mat Spray takes less than 3 minutes to make:

✨ 60ml distilled water
✨ 30ml witch hazel or perfumer's alcohol
✨ 10–15 drops essential oils

Pour into ideally an amber glass bottle, shake well and lightly mist your mat after practice.

Try these summer blends of essential oils:

🌿 Morning Focus
6 drops peppermint
5 drops lemon
4 drops rosemary

🌿 Evening Wind-Down
8 drops lavender
4 drops frankincense
3 drops cedarwood
