One of the things we particularly like about this Ashcraft kitchen is how the colours and materials work with the garden outside. The brief was for a contemporary kitchen with a completely handleless finish, so we went with deep green cabinetry, a dark Dekton worktop and rich timber detailing. The generous proportions of the extension allowed us to introduce an island measuring over three metres, with plenty of preparation space and seating for family and friends.

We also made the most of the large windows, incorporating a timber window seat overlooking the garden, while the rooflight brings additional natural light into the room.

The overall design is deliberately minimal, but there's a lot of thought and workmanship behind those clean lines, particularly in the cabinetry, integrated storage and finer finishing details.

A project we're particularly proud of at Ashcraft.

“Can we fit an island?” is a question we’re asked regularly at Ashcraft.
Before deciding how big it should be, we obviously have to consider the size of the room around it. There needs to be plenty of space to move comfortably, open cupboards and pull up a chair.

Our aim is to give you room to prepare dinner while family or friends sit alongside you, without everyone getting in each other’s way.

Our team at Ashcraft took care of the full room design here. We designed and made the fitted media wall, installed the panelling and skirting boards, and laid our own-brand solid oak flooring. The unit makes use of the full wall, with room for the television, books and films. Lighting runs along the shelves, with cupboards and drawers underneath for the things you’d rather put away. We carried the panelled detail through the cabinet doors and fitted the unit neatly beneath the coving to complement the room’s traditional style and the choice of the solid oak floor brings a warmth to the space that works beautifully alongside the new furniture......

Our team paired soft neutral cabinetry with a muted island in this kitchen transformation The pale veining of the Cosentino Dekton worktop continues into the splashback, with the darker herringbone floor providing a warm contrast.

We’re really proud of the workmanship that went into this renovation in Kilkenny.

The woodland view was something we wanted to make much more of in this renovation. A large lift-and-slide door opens the kitchen to its surroundings, bringing in natural light that changes the feel of the room throughout the day. Inside, we carried the cabinetry right to the ceiling, continuing the coving around the top for a beautifully fitted finish and additional storage. Wall panelling complements the traditional cabinet work, while the generous Dekton-topped island provides plenty of room for preparing food and having people over.

PJ takes a closer look at the colours and finishes across our contemporary kitchen collection, from smooth painted doors to wood-grain effects and more distinctive patterned designs. The combinations give each kitchen its own character. Some of our clients like the soft cashmere that sits beautifully alongside walnut, while deeper shades work well with a pale worktop. Texture makes a difference too, with some of the patterned finishes lending themselves particularly well to fitted living-room furniture and media walls.

At Ashcraft, we enjoy working through these choices with our clients. Putting samples beside one another, considering the light in the room and exploring different combinations is an important part of getting the design right.

When Niamh first came to Ashcraft, her kitchen and dining room simply weren’t working for the way her family lived. The potential was there, but the separation between the two rooms meant neither was being fully enjoyed.

Rethinking the layout allowed us to create one spacious kitchen, with a generous island and cabinetry extending to the ceiling. Soft ivory and muted green are complemented by delicately veined worktops, while the textured brass handles introduce warmth and a finer level of detail.

Our team took particular pride in the cabinetry, paying close attention to its proportions, the precision of the fit and how it sits within the room.

For Niamh, the transformation has brought something more personal...the pleasure of cooking with family and friends sitting alongside her, rather than in another room.

Thank you, Niamh, for trusting Ashcraft with your home. We’re proud to have made such a difference to how you enjoy it.

📸 FIRST LOOK at Kevin's Newly Reimagined Cookery School. Kevin asked us to rethink the space with a very particular ambition a modern cookery school that he could also take on the road. Our team designed six mobile cooking stations, each with storage fitted around the equipment he needs for teaching, right down to the pots, chopping boards and seasoning. At the centre of the room, the oak base and quartz countertop give the main island the character of a freestanding piece of furniture, reflecting the house itself. Behind it, the cabinetry conceals a coffee station and generous storage, while the lighter flooring makes a remarkable difference to the whole space.

Seeing Kevin explore the finished school and appreciate the details was a proud moment for everyone at Ashcraft.

An in-frame kitchen doesn’t mean one look. PJ runs through some of the most popular options, including a few styles that are starting to make their way back again.

A peek at one of our recent projects....Deep green cabinetry, sleek no handles finish with clean lines and a contemporary design built around simplicity. Carefully integrated storage, subtle lighting details . A huge amount of thought went into proportion, balance and the finer details to ensure the room feels both striking and effortless.
