Fight, flight or freeze. Responses to crisis. I admit, I have spent much of the last (nearly) 6 months since the beginning of this bloody conflict in the latter. As many of you know we have a personal connection to the region through my husband, its very close to the heart, it burns and raises all sorts of historical trauma, as it does for so many. But we are here in Devon. What can we do that's useful? I've struggled with feeling utterly useless, but a personal retreat recently gave me a bit of time and space to feel into this. I recognised that doing whatever little I can, whether that means caring for my family and mitigating trauma, or making an offering to fundraise is valid. So here we are. And why not make it time critical. It is critical. Along with longer term aims of ceasefire and an even longer term peace agreement (we have to believe it's possible) what is needed now is FOOD. Get food into Gaza however possible. World Central Kitchen (WCK) are doing just that, by sea. An incredible 200 tonnes of food were delivered 2 weeks ago through a newly created maritime corridor. Another convoy with even more is on its way NOW. It left Cyprus yesterday (30/3/24). Read more, search WCK.
