ANANTAM | A Home Without Measure
Anantam (Sanskrit: अनन्तम्), meaning infinite, endless or boundless, takes its name from a sentiment shared by the client: that everything within her home — love, laughter, emotions and the memories created together — is limitless.
Located in Gandhidham, Anantam marks a new chapter in a residence we first designed years ago. As the family grew, the home, too, needed to evolve. The challenge was to create room for this changing life while preserving the timeless character of the original structure, defined by its interplay of concrete and wood.
The extension was conceived around the existing residence, allowing its architectural integrity to remain undisturbed. A bridge connects the old and new structures, establishing a dialogue between the two while allowing each to retain its distinct identity. The addition introduces a lounge overlooking the swimming pool, alongside dedicated bedrooms for the son and daughter — spaces shaped around the evolving needs of the family.
Beyond the built form, the landscape extends this sense of openness into everyday life. The garden, pool and outdoor seating create places for the family to gather, unwind and reconnect with nature, allowing moments of togetherness and solitude to coexist.
At its heart, Anantam is an exploration of growth without erasure — of adding to what already exists while preserving what makes it meaningful. Much like the family it houses, the architecture continues to evolve, making space for new memories while holding on to the old.
