Years ago,I met someone whose very first words to me were, ‘I heard you love yourself too much.’
I remember laughing and replying, ‘If I don’t love myself, I’ll probably never be able to love you properly.’
And honestly, that conversation stayed with me.
Because somewhere along the way, especially for women in India, self-love became something negative. If a woman chooses herself, sets boundaries, protects her peace, enjoys her own company, or simply knows her worth — she’s called egoistic, proud, difficult, or ‘non-adjustable.’
But self-love isn’t arrogance.
It’s knowing you matter too.
It’s resting without guilt.
It’s saying no when needed.
It’s not shrinking yourself just to make others comfortable.
You cannot constantly pour into everyone else while running empty inside.
You truly cannot pour from an empty jar. 🤍
