Faith, nature and memory
One detail we designed that still stays with me.
The Vrindavan mandir ceiling.
While the finished ceiling appears seamless, what it doesn’t reveal is the amount of craftsmanship, coordination, and problem-solving that went into bringing it to life.
Executed by a team of 5–6 craftsmen working intensive carving and finishing cycles over several months, this project was a reminder that some of the most meaningful design details are also the ones that demand the greatest patience.

The Process
The ceiling began as a custom illustrated composition inspired by the layered ecology of Vrindavan’s forests. Over the next 4–5 months, that concept was translated into a hand-carved teak wood ceiling through extensive prototyping, detailing, and collaboration with artisans.
The Challenge
The teak wood vault was fabricated in four curved structural sections, with the artwork flowing continuously across every junction. Each motif was hand-carved in varying depths to create shadow, texture, and relief. One of the biggest challenges was maintaining uninterrupted carving continuity across multiple panels while preserving the integrity of the original illustration.
The Lighting
Once the carving was complete, ultra-fine fibre optic threads were integrated directly into the teak substrate through concealed routing channels. The result was a soft, low-lux illumination that transforms the carved ceiling into a celestial canopy after dark.
