The Sacred Welcome - Vyug & Hyenze..

​Once the baraat arrives, one of the most beautiful and sacred Kashmiri wedding rituals takes place.. the groom steps onto the Vyug.

​Vyug is a traditional rangoli intricate design created at the doorstep using colorful rice flour and flowers. It is not just decorative, it symbolizes a sacred boundary of love, auspiciousness, and blessings as the groom enters his new journey.

​While he stands on the Vyug, the women of the family gather around to sing Hyenze (traditional Kashmiri wedding folk songs/wanvun). Sung in chorus without modern instruments, these songs carry prayers for a long, blissful life, safe keeping, and prosperity for the couple.
