From the Studio Cichero archives: Lamborghini Masha.

We recently rediscovered an original film documenting one of Aldo Cichero’s most experimental projects: Masha, the 11.80-metre high-performance boat designed for Lamborghini in the 1980s.

The project brought together naval design, automotive performance, advanced composite materials and a radical approach to speed and construction.

This one-minute excerpt offers a rare glimpse into that period and into the design research that later continued with Quetzal and the patented Triplast® structural system.

The film was shot in Monte Carlo by Jacques Sandoz, with original music by Patrick Mimran, whose soundtrack strongly contributes to the identity and atmosphere of the footage.

Sono felice di invitarvi a un talk speciale nell’ambito di Genova Jeans, dove insieme a Paola Boschieri esploreremo il design degli anni '70-'80.

🚤 Faremo un viaggio attraverso il design nautico iconico e la mia carriera come progettista di yacht, presentando alcuni dei modelli che hanno lasciato un segno indelebile nel settore, tra cui:

Alalunga – yacht in legno del Cantiere Spertini di Santa Margherita
Magnum Marine – potenti barche costruite a Miami
Quetzal – un’imbarcazione da 11,80 metri con motori Lamborghini, capace di raggiungere 80 nodi
Maffy Blue, lo yacht da 33 metri del Cantiere Baglietto che ha rivoluzionato il mercato
L'incontro fa parte della Jeans Week mondiale, una celebrazione unica di arte, moda, musica e artigianato, con il jeans come protagonista. Dal 1 al 6 ottobre, Genova sarà animata da installazioni artistiche, mostre e molto altro.

This morning, while going through my old archives, I came across a photo from 1970 that brought back so many memories. In the picture, it's me holding a model boat designed by Paolo Caliari for the famous banker Elie de Rothschild. I remember the hull was crafted in an English shipyard, and the finishing touches were done here in Italy.

This was one of the very first projects where I had the chance to work with Caliari. I was just starting out in my career, quite young and a bit shy, and I was surrounded by incredible people. Elie de Rothschild was one of those larger-than-life figures. I still remember his passion for deer hunting and his love for boating, which made a big impression on me.

Looking back, it's amazing to think how these early experiences shaped my path in yacht design. I feel so fortunate for the opportunities I had and the incredible people I met along the way.

In 2016, I designed the Nûn yacht as a unique fusion of sustainable innovation and cultural heritage. This 120-meter vessel serves as a "cultural raft" and a floating museum, demonstrating how yacht design can respect the environment while promoting culture. I'm proud of how Nûn continues to inspire new horizons in naval architecture.
