WORTH THE FIGHT ✊🏼🎓

The course he once considered leaving became proof of how far he had come.
Carl Vincent Reynido never imagined Architecture would become one of the biggest tests of his life.

Now a BS Architecture graduate of National University–Laguna, Carl admits that Architecture was not even his first choice. He knew how to draw and had joined poster-making competitions in high school, but college quickly taught him that Architecture was never simply “drawing-drawing lang.”

A consistent achiever since elementary, Carl initially thought he could easily survive college. Instead, college humbled him.

He had to practice more because drawing did not always come easily. He had to study harder after suddenly feeling like an average student. More importantly, he knew he had to keep pushing because his parents were working hard just to send him to school.

He also joined the Architecture Council, inspired by his student-leader friends and eager to understand how organizations worked.

Carl never saw himself as the most studious, competitive, or knowledgeable student. He simply made sure to show up and complete what every professor asked of him.

Then came third year.
After failing some midterm exams—before recovering during finals—Carl began questioning whether Architecture was still for him. Surrounded by classmates he thought were far better, comparison slowly turned into doubt. He even considered shifting to another program.

But he remembered the people who believed in him from day one: his parents, sister, and friends.

His parents’ sacrifices reignited the reason he started.

So he stayed.

Today, Carl has graduated from the course that was never his first choice and nearly became the course he left behind.

For him, college was never about being ahead of everyone else.

“It’s always you versus your past self.”

Practice may not always make you perfect, but it makes you improve.

Keep showing up. Keep trying. Sometimes, the sweetest victory is realizing how much you have grown.
