Grateful to PAM Northern Chapter for having us as speakers at the WAF’26 “3 Penang Voices” event today! 🏛️✨ 
Loved sharing the stage with Ar. Ho Chin Keng and Ar. Mei Chee Seong, along with Kevin Ooi as a special guest speaker. A huge thank you to Ar. Grace Teoh for guiding the conversation so seamlessly as our moderator! 
It was great reconnecting with so many familiar faces and good friends in the Penang architectural scene. Thanks to everyone who attended!

An important milestone for us — our 1st MIID Reka Awards 2026, Silver Award for Professional Completed Projects – Green & Adaptive Re-Use Category, through our project “Heritage Salvation – Piccadilly Bazaar.”

The same project also won Gold at PAM Awards 2026 under the Adaptive Re-Use Category earlier this year.

Glad to see the same project being appreciated from both the Architecture & Interior Architecture perspectives. We always believe these two are closely co-related and in a way, this feels like a double assurance of the efforts we have put into this project.

Interior Architecture is something we always look forward to and always wish to explore more. It complements the architecture and, to us, gives that final touch to a place.

With HODE MAKERS as our Interior arm, we hope to continue this effort and bring more continuity to our exploration in Interior Architecture.

Very nice organising by MIID for this year’s Reka Awards ceremony at Immersify KL. Thanks and with appreciation to everyone involved.

Graduated locally from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with B.Arch (2011), Ar. Ho started his career in Singapore upon his graduation with his involvement included several famous International award-winning projects, exposing himself with special design projects including collaboration with several world-renowned architecture firms.

After gaining exposure with those high design value projects and professional practice, he then decided to go back to his homeland - Penang, to pursue his architecture dream and design process thinking, for which he always believes that Malaysia Architecture has huge potential to explore and improve such design strategy. He believes that there is a lot more could be explored with the right thinking. The room for exploration, improvement and level of project diversity is believed to be more interesting in Malaysia.

Ar. Ho obtained his professional qualification at age 27+, founded his own practice - CKHO Architect in year 2017, at a young age of 29, and was being blessed with opportunities to immerse himself in an array of interesting projects. The reason behind setting up his own practice at early age is that he believes that you have more time to explore Design Process and to try something different at a young age, before limiting yourself to a very expected and rigid architectural practice.

His featured works include Piccadilly Bazaar, Bayana Hub, Heritage Rice Mill Relocation and many more.

The 2026 PAM Awards honours Malaysia's top designs that showcase social responsibility, environmental stewardship, cultural identity and resilience.

A very meaningful feature for us.

Piccadilly Bazaar was never about making a burnt building look new again.

It was about asking what could be retained, what could be reworked, and how the scars of the past could become part of its next chapter.

We call this SALVATION ARCHITECTURE — not because we are trying to bring the building back to what it was, but because we believe architecture can save what remains, preserve its memory, and give it another life.

The charred timber, weathered bricks and fragments left behind by the fire were not treated as things to erase, but as part of the building’s identity, carefully salvaged, reworked and given new life through the hands of local craftsmen.

For us, this is what 'Reworking the Familiar' is about.

Not starting from zero.
But finding value in what already exists, and making it better.

These mark our 6th, 7th and 8th PAM Awards since our establishment in 2017, that since day one, we have believed in architectural exploration through Design Process Thinking. It gives us the confidence to continue pushing further and exploring harder.
