A stop for your aquatic plants 💚

Sometimes, the best shade doesn’t come from a roof, but from plants. 🌿☀️

Have you ever noticed how much cooler it feels when you’re standing under a tree or surrounded by greenery, compared to standing under a concrete shelter?

There’s actually science behind it.

Plants don’t just provide shade. They help regulate the temperature around us naturally.

🌿 Blocking direct sunlight –
Leaves absorb and intercept sunlight, reducing the amount of heat reaching the ground, walls and surrounding surfaces.

🌿 Natural cooling–
Through a process called *transpiration*, plants release water vapour into the air, helping to cool their surroundings.

🌿 Reducing heat buildup–
Unlike concrete and tiles that absorb and store heat, greenery can help keep surfaces cooler, especially in areas exposed to strong afternoon sun.

That’s why a garden filled with plants can feel much more comfortable than an open space surrounded by concrete.

Of course, not every plant provides the same cooling effect. Leaf coverage, plant size, placement and watering all make a difference.

**Sometimes, instead of adding another shade structure, we should consider planting something.**

A little more greenery doesn’t just make our surroundings beautiful. It can make them more comfortable to live in too.

And in Malaysia’s hot weather, that’s something worth thinking about. 🌱

Our Setapak outlet may be small, but we really tried to fit as much as we could into this little space. 🌿

Plants, pots, and all sorts of little things for plant lovers. You might be surprised how much there is to explore once you step inside.

We know it’s not a big shop, but we hope you’ll enjoy every little corner we’ve put together.

Drop by when you’re around Setapak. We’d love to see you! 🪴

Recently, we’ve been receiving quite a number of enquiries from customers wondering why their plants are suddenly looking unhealthy, even though nothing has changed in their usual care routine.

Same watering, same spot, same care. So, what’s going wrong?

One possible reason could be something many of us overlook — the haze.

Haze doesn’t just affect humans and animals. Plants suffer too. 🌿

When forests burn in Indonesia, it’s not just the trees that are lost. Wildlife loses its habitat, and the smoke travels across borders, affecting people, animals, and even plants in our cities.

But here’s something many plant lovers may not realise.

**Haze can affect your indoor plants too.**

When the sky stays hazy, less sunlight reaches our homes. The light intensity your plants receive may be very different from what they’re used to, affecting photosynthesis and slowing down their growth.

So, if you’ve noticed your plants looking a little unhappy or growing more slowly over the past few months, haze could be one of the contributing factors.

Sometimes, it’s not about how much you water or fertilise. It’s about what’s happening in the environment around us.

Take care of yourself, your pets, and your plants during hazy days.
