For this factory, the controller DB of a heavy industrial burner machine had previously been cooled using dedicated panel air conditioners.

However, the existing units frequently developed problems and were difficult to repair and service.

The factory therefore decided to switch to a more conventional ducted split air-conditioning system.

For the new arrangement, CrystalAir installed:
- 2 × 1.5 HP Daikin ducted air conditioners
- Alternating operation for 24-hour machine use
- Individual dampers for both air-conditioning units
- Separate electrical supply from the machine controller DB
- Individual MCB protection for each unit

Why two air conditioners?
Because the production machine operates continuously. The two units can be operated alternately, reducing reliance on a single cooling unit and retaining another unit for standby or servicing. Another important detail is the airflow damper. When one air conditioner is switched off, the damper closes the inactive duct path so cooled air from the operating unit does not simply flow backward through the standby air conditioner.

The installation itself was also challenging due to the cramped, dusty and very hot working area beside the burner machine.

Industrial cooling is not only about choosing the correct HP. Reliability, airflow, electrical separation and serviceability matter too.

Do factories really need rows and rows of turbine ventilators on the roof?

Not necessarily.

Passive turbine ventilators have a useful function: they provide a natural escape route for hot air that accumulates beneath the roof.
But a large industrial factory is a very different ventilation problem.

If the factory requires a meaningful air-exchange rate, the amount of air that must be removed can be very large. Trying to achieve this mainly with small passive roof ventilators may require a very large number of units, while the actual extraction rate still varies with natural conditions.

For this project, there was another challenge.
The factory had already been fully extended on the:

Left side → neighbouring factory
Right side → neighbouring factory
Rear → neighbouring factory

This made conventional wall exhaust discharge impractical.

Our solution was to install 6 units of CrystalAir EXF-460 powered rooftop exhaust fans, allowing hot indoor air to be mechanically extracted vertically through the roof.

Powered rooftop exhaust fans allow us to approach factory ventilation differently:

Instead of asking:
“How many ventilators should we install?”

we can ask:
“How much air does this factory actually need to remove every hour?”

That is the more useful starting point for industrial ventilation design.

This factory already had HVLS fans and a few small exhaust fans, but the working environment still felt hot and stuffy even with insulated roofing.

CrystalAir installed a complete ventilation setup using:
- CrystalAir AC-350 evaporative air coolers
- CrystalAir EX-325 exhaust fans
- Fresh cooled air supply
- Hot and stagnant air extraction

Factory layout:
Left section: 2 air coolers + 4 exhaust fans
Right section: 2 air coolers + 6 exhaust fans

Instead of only circulating hot air inside the factory, this system helps supply fresh cooled air while removing hot indoor air through exhaust fans.

A restaurant contacted us after its kitchen exhaust fan began tripping the MCB whenever the motor starter was switched on.

The system was only about four months old and was still under warranty.

Initial checking from the starter panel indicated a possible motor fault. However, the fan motor was installed at a high external location and could only be accessed safely using a skylift.

Since skylift rental is charged by the day, we recommended preparing a replacement motor in advance. This allowed us to replace the suspected faulty motor and bring the removed motor back for further inspection during the same skylift visit.

After the replacement was completed, our technician did not immediately switch on and hand over the system.

During the final incoming power supply check, one phase-to-neutral reading reached approximately 255.1V. Because the reading appeared abnormal and later changed again, we advised the customer not to operate the exhaust fan until the incoming supply had been properly investigated.

The customer later informed us that tenants on the lower and upper floors had also experienced unexplained electrical appliance failures.
Although one voltage reading alone cannot conclusively prove what damaged the original motor, it was sufficient reason to stop commissioning and avoid exposing the replacement motor to the same possible risk.

The most important part of this case was not only replacing the motor. It was carrying out one final check before commissioning.

At CrystalAir, we check, verify and advise—not simply replace parts and leave.

CrystalAir installed 2 standalone kitchen exhaust hood systems for this restaurant kitchen.

This project included:
- Wall-mounted kitchen hood + 1HP axial fan motor
- Island-style kitchen hood + 2HP axial fan motor
- Rooftop ducting discharge
- External vertical ducting with support brackets

The island-style hood required a larger 2HP axial fan motor because the ducting route was around 20 ft longer compared with the wall-mounted hood system.

We provide kitchen exhaust hood installation, ducting works, rooftop discharge ducting, exhaust fan installation and ventilation modification for restaurants, cafés and F&B outlets.

During a restaurant kitchen site inspection, we found this existing exhaust hood setup.

At first glance, there is a stainless steel hood and a pipe connected toward the wall. But after checking, this setup has several major issues:

1)The hood is installed too high, around 7.5 ft above ground

2)There is no exhaust fan motor

3)A 6-inch PVC water pipe is used instead of proper ducting

4)The pipe is left loosely facing a wall opening

Without a fan motor, there is no real suction inside the hood or pipe. Smoke will not naturally squeeze itself into a small PVC pipe and discharge outside.

In practical terms, this is more like a decoration item than a working kitchen exhaust system.

A proper commercial kitchen exhaust system should include correct hood height, suitable ducting, an exhaust fan motor, sealed joints, and proper outdoor discharge.

CrystalAir completed a kitchen hood relocation and ducting extension for a cafe kitchen.

The existing kitchen exhaust hood was repositioned, and the ducting was extended to suit the updated kitchen layout.

We provide commercial kitchen exhaust hood installation, relocation, ducting modification, and ventilation solutions for cafes, restaurants, and F&B outlets.

CrystalAir completed a compact evaporative air cooler installation for a local mamak restaurant in a middle-lot shop unit.

This project used 1 unit of CrystalAir AC-230 evaporative air cooler, with ducted air supply connected to a single indoor discharge grille to introduce fresh cooled air into the dining area.

Suitable for restaurants, cafés, food courts, workshops and commercial spaces that need better airflow and cooling without using conventional air conditioning for the whole area.

Crystal Air installed 4 units of AC-500 industrial evaporative air coolers for an instant noodle production floor.

Before installation, the production area temperature was measured at 43°C. After the Phase 1 air cooler installation, the temperature improved to 36°C.

This setup helps supply fresh cooled air into the factory through ducting. The matching exhaust fan system can be added in the next stage to further improve airflow and heat removal
