Final part of my Legend Cinema @ Olympia Shopping Mall project in Phnom Penh: the screening halls. 🍿

The standard, premium and kids’ halls each have a different character. Seating colours, wall details and aisle lighting help shape the atmosphere while keeping the screen as the focus.

It was interesting to explore how one cinema can offer several distinct experiences within the same overall design language.

Part 2 of my Legend Cinema Shopping Mall project in Phnom Penh: the lounge and corridors. 🎬

These spaces connect the busy ticketing area to the screening halls. Lighting, wall details and colour help guide visitors through the cinema while gradually shifting the mood toward the movie experience.

I wanted the journey to feel like part of the visit, rather than simply a walk from one room to another.

Legend Cinema is coming to Penang, and the news brought back a project I worked on for Legend Cinema, Olympia Shopping Mall in Phnom Penh. 🎬

First up: the ticketing and concession areas. These are the spaces that set the mood before anyone enters a screening hall. I explored layered lighting, dark finishes and clear circulation to make the arrival feel exciting and easy to navigate.

These images are from my Phnom Penh project, not the upcoming cinema at Sunshine Central. I’m looking forward to seeing what Legend Cinema brings to Penang!

A closer look at the spaces for everyday living. 🤎

Continuing this home series, we move into the living and dining areas, where warm grey, ivory and wood tones bring both spaces together.

In the living area, the curved sofa and soft textures create a comfortable place to unwind. The gentle curves continue into the dining area through the arched display niche, with illuminated shelves adding warmth and space for favourite objects.

The timber dining set and sculptural pendant give the dining corner its own character, while keeping it visually connected to the lounge.

For this design, I wanted the details to feel consistent from the entrance through to the spaces where people relax, share meals and spend time together.

A welcoming entrance, from outside to inside. 🤎

Following yesterday’s exterior post, here’s a closer look at the entrance and foyer of this home.

Beside the front door, the large fixed glass panel brings natural light into the dining area and frames a glimpse of the interior. The charcoal surround and timber door give the entrance a simple, defined character.

Stepping inside, curved cabinetry softens the foyer, with warm concealed lighting tracing its outline. Fine fluted glass above adds texture, while the wood display ledge provides a place for a few personal touches.

The warm neutrals, wood tones and dark frames connect both spaces, creating a consistent welcome as you enter the home.

Sharing a closer look at one of my residential design projects, starting with the exterior. 🏡

I wanted the house to have a strong, clean presence from the street without feeling too heavy. The charcoal gate and black roof framing create a clear outline, while the white walls, wood tones and surrounding greenery bring warmth to the design.

One of my favourite details is the large front glass panel. Even from outside, you get a glimpse of the dining area and the softer lighting inside—a small connection between the exterior and the home beyond it.

Over the next few posts, I’ll share more of the entrance, foyer, living and dining spaces, along with the details that bring the design together.

Proposed enhancement for the entrance and drop-off area of SJK (C) Tong Sian.

The design focuses on improving traffic flow, safety, accessibility, and comfort for students, parents, and visitors. Features include a covered walkway, dedicated drop-off zone, waiting pavilion, landscaped greenery, and shaded areas to create a more welcoming school environment.

Every improvement is a step towards providing a safer and better learning environment for our children.
