MEL interiors

"An interior is the natural projection of the soul." Coco Chanel Mel Design is an interior design studio in Amsterdam.

We believe that a good design can transform any ordinary place into an exceptional and personal one. We provide expert advice on choosing a new house or renovating your existing house; making the best layout for your home, always thinking about function as well as esthetics; deciding on materials, furniture, lighting and accessories.

A place for meditation, a workspace, a family retreat, a space for treasured collections, or simply a corner to get lost in music.

MEL Interiors & Objects

We believe that beautiful interiors go beyond architecture. It’s the objects we surround ourselves with that bring warmth, character, and a sense of belonging.

A home continues to evolve long after the design is complete.

This inspired us to extend our work beyond interiors, bringing together a carefully curated collection of objects that add personality, beauty, and meaning to everyday living.

And these treasures are not only for our design clients. MEL Objects is for everyone who appreciates thoughtful design, beautiful craftsmanship, and pieces worth keeping.

Because a space is designed, but a home is collected over time.

Beauty Beyond Perfection

Beauty was never meant to be defined by uniformity.

The veins of natural stone, the grain of solid wood, the subtle irregularities of handmade objects — each reveals a character that cannot be replicated.

And beauty does not end when something begins to age. Time adds another layer of depth. Wood changes its tone, stone and leather develops a patina, and surfaces carry the subtle traces of everyday life.

These changes are not necessarily signs of something losing its beauty, but of something acquiring a story.

In a world increasingly obsessed with flawless surfaces and artificial perfection, we believe true luxury lies in authenticity — in materials that are allowed to be natural, to age, and to reveal their character over time.

Because beauty is not always found in what remains unchanged, but also in what becomes more meaningful with time.
