A few days ago, I was invited to join yet another platform claiming to offer a "reliable network of contractors."
I declined.
Do you know why?
Because I've seen this business model too many times already. Platforms appear, collect contractors, generate leads, take a commission... and that's where their responsibility usually ends.
The home maintenance industry doesn't need another directory. It needs accountability.
Many platforms give customers access to everyone willing to register. In my experience, that's the biggest problem.
After years of working in this industry, I can honestly say that only around 1 out of every 15 contractors meets the standards I would confidently recommend to a customer. The other 14 may not necessarily be bad people, but they often lack consistency, communication, planning, or quality.
At Handyman Eindhoven, those 14 never reach our customers.
We don't sell contractor contacts.
We deliver completed projects.
Every project has a single point of contact. Every project is supervised. If something goes wrong, there is a person who takes ownership instead of pointing you back to a profile page or leaving you to resolve the dispute yourself.
The home maintenance market is still a bit like the Wild West. Without someone acting as the sheriff, customers are often left gambling with their money.
Would you rather:
- Spend weeks trying to find the right contractor yourself, hoping you've made the right choice?
- Or work with someone who has spent years building, testing, and filtering a trusted network, and whose reputation depends on delivering your project on time, within budget, and to a high standard?
I have invested years into building relationships, verifying contractors, and protecting my customers.
Others write a few lines of code, invite everyone to join, and call it a reliable network.
For me, those are simply modern-day Yellow Pages.
The difference is that your home renovation isn't a phone number—it's your home, your money, and your peace of mind.
Choose wisely.
