Dig 8 – 10 cm deep, place the bulbs pointed side up and give them around 8 – 10 cm of space. Cover with soil, gently firm it down and give them some water if the soil is dry.

One pot, several layers and plenty to look forward to in spring. 🌷

The secret to a bulb lasagne is all in the layers. Plant the larger, later-flowering bulbs deeper in the pot and work your way up with smaller, earlier-flowering varieties.
You don’t need to be too precise with the distance between the bulbs. They can be planted quite close together.

And don’t forget the pot! Always use a pot with drainage holes so excess water can escape. Once everything is planted, water well and let it drain. After that, keep an eye on the compost and avoid letting it stay waterlogged.

While gardening, I accidentally cut this Fritillaria bulb in half. Not exactly what you want to find on your spade…

But there is something fascinating about seeing the inside of a bulb. Look closely and you can see the young plant already developing inside, getting ready for its journey towards spring. 🌱
