From the doorway it looks just pink. Up close that changes.

Rust, cream, lilac, a brown that leans red - dozens of colours twisted into one thick strand, and worked into something you feel through your socks before you see it properly.

It is why wool never flattens out the way a printed colour does. There is always something else going on in there.

Worth getting down on the floor for.

The time has come: the clocks have gone back and winter time has begun. From now on it really is dark before dinner.

Over the next six months a rug proves its worth all over again: it keeps your feet warm, it gives you somewhere to sit, and it holds the room together as the light fades.

Enjoy the extra hour. Preferably barefoot.

We have two showrooms: our own base in Elst, Gelderland, and the Design Tales building in Hilversum. Both by appointment — which means the time is yours, and nobody is waiting behind you.

In October, everybody suddenly looks at their floor.

This is where a rug begins: a creative process of selecting colours, combining textures, until everything comes together. Swipe to see what happens to all of it.

First the yarns. Thick or thin, smooth or looped - laid out side by side and chosen by hand, until a group of them starts to belong together.

Then the colours. Each one is held against the others, kept or put back. Twenty shades, to end up with the perfect match.

And this is what all of that looks like once it is finished. Nothing in it arrived by accident.

The best seat in the house is rarely the sofa. And our pets could not agree more.
